modifications

Hi there everyone,
I recently picked up a 2008 (57 plate) mk7 1.4 Petrol Polo Match 80. I love it to bits already and I'm going to keep it as is for a while but I'm thinking about modifying it a couple of years down the line. I'm quite uneducated when it comes to cars, especially modifying them and I was wondering what kind of stuff I could do to increase the power of my little car. Any suggestions welcome.
