Hi there, new member, hope i have done this correctly. I had a look through lots of posts, but nothing conclusive..

I have a 2007 VW Polo 1.4 tdi engine code BNV - the one with turbo and tandem fuel pump.

The problem i had was the engine stopped when hot, I pulled over for 5-10 mins, (abs light came on !?) tried to start again and started ok - abs light off, have been driving since no problem for a day. Then the car was sat at idle and again it stopped (abs light on again) left for 5 mins and started ok - abs light off. Then driven again from cold, left a couple of hours and now just turns over ok, but will not start, iv'e checked fuses, the 109 relay is a newer grey one (not checked) but assumed ok at this point.
Not certain if I should hear the fuel pump gush when ignition is first turned on to prime system or not - does anyone know or can test theirs, i have had my hand on the top of the fuel pump (external to the tank) when we have switched on the ignition, but cant feel any vibrations or hear anything? need help please.

Hello,

when you turn the ignition on, you should hear the fuel pump prime for about 2 seconds.

The ecu controls that, does your glow plug light shows up when ignition on ? If not, ecu is not responding.
