Reprogramming a key

In the process of buying a 57 plate polo it only has the second key and not the key fob entry key can I buy a key get it cut and reprogramme it myself?

You will always need to use either VW Group dealership or a proper auto locksmith to program the transponder for the immob, programming a central locking new fob - I can't say on a car that only has the plain/basic key still with it.
