Changing battery - help please!

Hi All,

I can’t believe I can’t find any mention of this anywhere online, but I cannot do the mental gymnastics required to figure out how to remove the battery. Its in a plastic harness full of wires and I can’t seem to find any release clips to remove it. Does anyone have any tips or diagrams? I’ve been having battery problems and it’s transpired the car I bought last year hasn’t had a new battery ever. A ten year old battery.

I also dropped a ratchet socket into the oil pan trying to find the correct bolt size for the bracket keeping the battery in place. I’ve had more successful evenings with my car if I’m honest.

Thanks everyone!

Paul

I think that you will need to look closer, the maybe 2 layers need lifting up, or if your age of car only has 1 layer, then it needs lifting up, you will eventually find preformed latches that can be tricky to release to let you rotate the plastic "cover" up and off after releasing the battery terminals - most of that comes from memory - distant memory, the idea is correct the detail might not be.

This got sorted in quite a cheeky way - the garage around the corner brought the battery around and the bloke thought he’d do a good deed and fit in for me. An hour and a half later, one rusted battery bracket bolt and a lot of swearing he managed to get it off. He said he’s never had a problem taking a cage off in the twenty years he’s been a mechanic. Gave him a box of biscuits for the trouble and didn’t mention I noticed the seized bolt beforehand because he might have punched me.

:) That's the last good deed he will do for a while, although I am sure he would have appreciated the biscuits! Yes, best to stay quiet on the bolt front. Good to hear all is sorted.
