What Have I Got Here?

Post by Goose42 »

Hi All,

I have recently purchased a 1992 Polo GT Coupe....or at least that''s what im told it is....its not the tidiest of cars but it will be a nice project.
The problem I have is I know nothing about the car! IE what motor I have, where I can source parts ect.
I have had a few projects in the past and have always managed to find a guru or experts all I have come across so far is a lot of conflicting information,

Any help available would be greatly appreciated.

I would like to know everything :D
to start what motor do I have? I have read a few spec sheets that mention fuel injection but my motor looks like it has a carb so that has me confused,
with the interior I plan to go the roll cage and bucket seat route so that I can figure out but where would I go to find replacement body moldings ect for the exterior?
I would like too have it looking stock from the outside and haven't had much luck tracking down any stock looking parts.

A gt has a multi injection system with a air filter box down to the front drivers side. The engine has 75bhp as standard with a shorter gear ratio.

It will have the same plastic side & wing trim as a g40 but the recaro interior came in a grey with a red, white & grey pattern on the inserts.

They come with a rev counter as well and I think from what my memory rightly tells me the engine code is ah
