Tyres for the GTI

Post by benhowarth6 »

Hello, so my MOT is due soon and my front tyres are pretty balled, VW wanted £340 for two Continentals which I laughed at, so I'm just looking to see if anybody has any recommendations for tyres, I've been looking at the standard tyres which are the Dunlop Sport Maxx's which are around £120 each, anybody have any better suggestions?

Thanks Ben

Hi Ben,

I recently created this thread for feedback/advice on tyres also.

http://www.uk-polos.net/view ... 56&t=60256

From this, I went for the Yokohama Parada Spec 2's all around. I found the valuetyres website the cheapest place to obtain them. Also, my local VW dealer advertised a 'Price Match' on tyres - I contacted them and they agreed to match the price. It ended up costing around £370 for four of these fitted at a VW dealer

As for the tyres, they are brilliant, I have noticed a slight decrease in MPG but the grip is immense! They look great also, not too sure on the longevity of them yet as I've only done 1500 miles since.

I have used them for ages and no-one can come close of price!! Next day delivery as well!

As for tyres for me I generally buy the cheapest brand name I can get at the time......but I'm a tight Scotsman :P

I decided to go for the Yokohama's, car is going down in around an hour to get them fitted, comes to just under £90 per tyre fitted which I don't think is too bad, my current tyres from when I got the car are very budget ones and are at the legal limit so these should be much better!

Cheers for your help guys!

Advan AD08R and BS Potenza RE-11 are most suitable for PGTI

Conti Sport contact 3's have an extremely good review and price wise are very reasonable. I'm looking for 2 new fronts for the summer and in two minds whether to go with the Conti sports or the Advan AD08Rs.

Anybody else running the semi slicks?
