Best source for LED DRL bulbs?

Post by TheFrog »

Sorry if this has been covered before, but I'm new here and couldn't find it using the search function. I even waded through ciclo's amazing dissertation-length post on all the mods he's done...

The standard DRLs on the 6C Blue GT I have just ordered will doubtless be grampa's-teeth yellow and I'd like to swap them for some nice bright LEDs. Can someone please confirm the bulb type and which are the best aftermarket bulbs to fit?

I don't want to add any extra lights, just swap out the bulbs in the DRLs next to the front foglights.

Many thanks :)

Brilliant - many thanks. Stupid question: where do you put the CANBUS resistors? Just next to the bulb, in the bumper, dashboard...? Thanks for your help :)

No need to install resistors.
There on the market many types of LEDs including resistors.

For example:

Original Cree LEDs, are the best out there for sale at a reasonable price.
If you are forced to buy cheap to save money better be with smd 5630 leds.

It's the best thing I can comment on LEDs because I have little experience with LED bulbs.

I used these in the end on my BlueGT:-
http://www.hids-direct.co.uk/382-p21w-5 ... lbs-white/

Tried :-
http://www.hids-direct.co.uk/382-p21w-w ... anbus-led/

The 30w version (above) is extremely bright and I was a bit worried about overdoing it or fetching aircraft down.

I have my bulbs (according to good Ciclo's recommendation) at home prepared to be installed...do you need to remove the battery in order to change the left hand bulb? The space is very narrow.

I think 98octaneblood that what you want is to change the cornering light on your Xenon headlight, right? for that, you'll need to remove the whole left headlight (only two screws on the top and remove pulling towards you).

I've bought some P21W on eBay, hope I can fit this weekend (33 SMD Led's 5630) :D

Right jobbercete, I'll do that as you say. I hate that mix of light colours inside the headlight.

Best source for LED DRL bulbs?

Ciclo where can I buy some of the smd's? And would I be able to get all my lights pure white? Are these leds for xenon headlights? As I dont have xenons and it's pointless me asking if so lol

Thanks for the links. Are you saying you tried the second ones but ditched them because they were too bright? The first ones seem bright enough, but do they provide an even spread of light? As there are no LEDs on the sides, I would have thought they give only a very narrow pencil-like beam... Any chance of a photo of what your Blue GT looks like with these bulbs in? Many thanks.
