i proceed with limited know-how and uncertainty. [emoji23] the gel pad diameter is 31mm. the rlhs diameter is 34mm. So the masking hole i decided to go for 30mm. hopefully its enough to ‘expose’ the sensor elements.

Hey Benzin, make the masked hole of a smaller diameter, 28mm or even 27mm for a better result.
You will get better aesthetic results (as factory) and the sensor will work correctly.

I had to correct mine to a lower diameter (28mm) so that an outer circle could not be seen that the gel pad could not cover.

Now I post some images ... wait

---

My first attempt, Ø > 28mm.

🤣

My second attempt, Ø = 28mm.

psss... not perfect, but a little better.
(I'm waiting for the windshield to break, I haven't had such luck during these years ..😄)

thanks ciclo. it is good to know that we can do up to 27mm diameter. I did 30mm and it looks fine for me. but the masking sticker is not good, so i didnt get perfect circle. but from outside i manage to avoid the issue as you mentioned.

oh btw, of course i have been reading your thread all over again and it has been helpful. I used the same primer and 2K glue as you mentioned. I know you did it 28mm. But so i thought anything smaller than the gelpad and rlhs, should be alright.

i feel bored. so as i saw the old stalk without the CCS inside one of my box, i took out and start playing with small mask sticker 2mm by 2mm to make the letter A[emoji1787]

It is a good idea.👍
The challenge would be to find a clear symbol (that anyone understand it) for HB flash. ⚡

---
For example, I really like the new/recent symbol (cloud / rain) for the bad weather lights used by the Golf 8.

Hehe. Thanks Ciclo. It’s good idea. but i guess the challenging part is to ‘print’ the small text on that stalk. I don’t think i’ll be able to do that. The arrow part is way easier. If we are talking bout something easy to understand, maybe can do like this[emoji23].

Image

but again. small text.

Benzinkopf's 2012 VW POLO 6R MK5 1.2TSI 105HP DSG

Post by benzinkopf »

so hello everyone, here's the details. Since it's quite lots of photos, so i decided to make a video instead. I guess its better. btw, the wiring part: of course referring to Ciclo's thread, where the wiring for these puddle lights LED are directly from the Footwell Light harness, going through the door connector etc.
