Looks pretty neat to me. Is the brightness comparable to, i.e., the 12V socket in the centre console?

Yes. i would guess its more or less around that brightness. maybe a bit more. But will see. i just test the light and door panel outside the car.

Hooray. I’m lovin it. sorry ive to let the footwell light open as i need the light to capture this. [emoji23]1x led in each door. now will try to do the same shade to the centre and all footwells with another 6x leds.

Hehe. too bad i competed the solution[emoji23]. btw my friend, i’m currently testing out the ambient light position like you did near the arm rest pillar projected to the front dash. But it seems like with red led, it’s not really make any diff to the centre console except some reflection in my gear knob n the aluminium finish of the gear selector cover.
do you have any photo to show the effect with your white led in the same position? appreciate that. thanks.

hi Amir, I took pictures, but as you already know, it is necessary to have a good photographic equipment (which I do not have) so that it captures the dim light emitted by the ambient lights that I installed.
These images ended up in the recycling bin.
I promise that the ambient light I installed on the center console (Armrest) does its job perfectly. Perfectly illuminates the parking/hand brake and adjacent gaps, it is not reflected at any point, so they do not disturb at all, rather the opposite, it helps the perception of space inside the cabin indirectly.
I have a very good feeling when driving with the ambient lights that I installed on my 6R (with our Golf MK7.5 the same).
It is a small change in the perception of the interior cabin that is very noticeable when driving other vehicles without these small ambient lights.

Great. If thats the case, i will proceed installing around the same area. maybe if red is still no good, i will change to white also later. Thanks.
In addition to that, im thinking of placing another one from under the centre rear seat to illuminate the area behind my armrest, as it is practical to see the usb port and i do feel its too dark back there. still testing.

It is a good idea, maybe the red led for the test that you are using in the previous image is too powerful.
IMHO ambient lights with a practical sense (not an aesthetic sense) should be very dim.

Oh yes. you are right. I was testing the light distribution directly from the led without any cover lens. Just to see the light up area in that position. Surely will reduce the brightness with some lens later then i wont be able to capture the light anymore.

You should make your OBD2 connection there

good idea iichel!hehe. or maybe i can block off that vent, and make a nice adaptor there with some fragrance, so if i feel like want to make the car smells good, ill just turn to foot vents
