Error: Start-stop system/air conditioning failure

Post by yorkshire devil »

Hi all

Problem with 2015 Polo GTI

My stop-start system is inoperative and says @ error start-stop system. Coincidentally the airconditiong has stopped blowing ice cold and none of the dials light up on the heating display.

Only the air condition and air recirculate illuminate

Does anyone have any ideas before I take it back to the main dealer

I think I would ring VW myself as it is still in warrantyas this sounds like something that is not a quick fix

Would agree. This sounds like a fairly complex issue

First attempt to repair by VW was a wire connector repair which worked for 2 weeks.

Trip back to dealer and they replaced the air conditioning control unit.

All sorted now ice cold air con again!

Did you fix it? I have exactly the same problem. They replaced the A/C control unit but worked just a month and I have the problem again even with the star stop

My daughters 2017 tfsi recently came up with the stop/ start error and it turned out to be the turbo actuator arm. I understand from VW that this is a common and known fault, but not sure how the stop start links to Air con??
Have you had it scanned to see what fault codes come up?
Hope this helps.

2017 1.2TSI and still VW Group cars are having waste gate actuator issues.
I seem to remember reading somewhere that you can check to see which version of actuator arm is fitted to your car, but you would need to use a mobile phone to get in there, so I have not checked that yet on my wife's 2015 1.2TSI Polo - maybe I should do that soon!

The other posters to this thread were having air conditioner failure and needed a new AC controller fitted, I'm not sure if it was manual AC or auto AC though.

I saw that and I was just trying to work out how an AC failure would throw a stop /start fault, I realise that the stop start will be affected if the air con is playing up but why the stop start warning?

There is a strict priority rating for logged faults, so I can't work out why an AC issue would cause a stop/start disabling either.
