New to this forum so not sure how this works.
I drive a 2010 1.2 standard polo running 14" hubs. Looking at some 16" alloys and looking for advice on whether they'll fit or not.
Current measurements: 175/70r14 35 offset
New measurements 215/45r16 45 offset
Will I have issues with fitting? Thanks for any help

Re: Upgrading wheel size
As your car is standard, presumably your existing 14" wheels are the original ones. If so, the spec of your current wheels will be;
Width; 5"
PCD (bolt pattern); 5x100
Centre bore; 57.1 mm
Offset; ET35
You've said the offset of the 16" wheels is ET 45 but can you also confirm the PCD and centre bore for these wheels are the same as your current wheels and advise what width they are please (215 section tyres suggest they're likely to be either 7" or 7.5" wide).

Re: Upgrading wheel size
Both are 5x100, in not sure if the centre bore. Never bought alloys before so not that clued up.
Re: Upgrading wheel size
They're Polo R line alloys I believe, 16" Mallory.

Re: Upgrading wheel size
If they're genuine VW 16" Mallory alloys as fitted to the R-Line they should bolt straight on. The spec of these wheels is;
Part no; 6R0 601 025T
Width; 7"
PCD; 5x100
Centre Bore; not certain, but if they're genuine VW and off a Polo, this should be the same as your current wheels.
Offset; 46
In terms of clearance; See the link below. Essentially, the inner face will be 36.4 mm closer to the suspension strut and the outer face will poke out an additional 14.4 mm compared to your existing wheels. This sounds quite a lot, but your existing wheels are quite a narrow width, so currently there should will be lots of clearance room between the inner face and the suspension strut, and the front face will be tucked quite far under the arch. If the new wheels don't have tyres fitted, then you'll need 215/45 R16 so the overall rolling radius remains the same as your current wheel/tyre combination so your speedometer readings don't change.

Bear in mind that fitting a different set of wheels to the ones originally fitted to your car is a modification for insurance purposes, even if they're VW wheels, so you need to declare this to your insurer.
