What did you and your 6R/C do today?

Post by Willni »

This is a place to post anything you and your 6R or related have done today. From washing the car to an engine swap and everything in between.

I'll kick this off with I eventually got round to washing my car after 3 or 4 weeks, still coated in Gtechniq crystal serum light and exo v2, coming to a year of it being on the car with only ever being washed.

I'll get better photos later on.

First oil change on the 6c GTI today. 5.7l oil with filter so quite a lot of oil! Much more than the 2.0l engine but the 1.8l engine seems to run a lot hotter. Used a short length of guttering from the sump plug to the oil tray to save having to drop the whole engine undertray!! That is another first - never used plastic gutter for an oil change before. :lol:

I had one in my mk6 Golf GTD with the optional Dynaudio upgrade that's available in the Golf. Agree, it does look miles better than the RCD310 and it's a pretty good unit too.

Pretty certain someone hit my rear bumper with their door, just below the line where the quarter panel meets the bumper :evil: It's so small that I think only I notice it, could just be going mental though... also a rock scratched one of my BBS CV's at work (construction site can't do much about it, and I hate my standards)

I'll need to get new tyres as well as they've only got about 2-4mm left, 1 at 2mm , 2 at 4mm, 1 at 6+. Think I'll go Dunlop Sport Maxx RT 2 £106 a corner.

Worth looking at this site and links to others. http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/

The Dunlop sport Maxx2 comes out well in the Auto Bild UHP test.

Thanks a lot never knew about that site, was always having to sift through 10 pages of google and numerous forums etc. Think I'll go for the Continental Premium Contact 6, majority of my journeys are on b-road/country roads so they're needed when the temps drop, even though I have winter tyres they're just too skinny to actually improve grip i think

I fitted the steering wheel version of cruise control to my 6c Polo!!!!!

still had to get it activated at the dealers but apart from that the install went well

a great upgrade

Not today, but earlier this week, gave my Polo GTI a full detail, including a two stage machine polish. Some pictures;

Time for a tyre change got 4 x Continental Sport Contact 6s size 225/45/17 went up in profile from 40 due to building sites at the minute to protect the alloy, as well as the rims have a good rim protector now from the rubber.
