Retrofitting of Cruise Control by MFS on Polo 6R, T5, T6

Post by iichel »

So this topic will be isolated from 'the big topic' to keep it a bit do-able and maintain the overview.

Keep in mind that this is highly experimental and should be considered as not-working until we figured it all out.

We think it needs messing with and/or changing the ABS module.

Some quick prior info from the master himself:

An small gift to iichel and info to all (Remember, POLO 6R Europe 2009-2014, PQ25)

Due to his new and great project. I suppose he will keep us informed.

I hope the masters of the universe are with you, Michel. :)

These are the only buttons with cruise control that fit in 6R/6C Sport Steering Wheel (new model), the T6 does not have this model of steering wheel from factory, but I would also recommend testing the buttons from the T6... perhaps the integrated circuits can be interchanged. :?:

WD
100%, only for mfsw with CCS or ACC buttons. (Euro6 emissions)

This diagram (above) is the one I did when I installed these buttons on my steering wheel.

Once that I discovered in the BCM the Bytes that make them work ...

- Byte29 Bit6 for the right side (MFA and phone, etc)
- Byte17 Bit2 for the left side (CCS)... the buttons are recognized in the engine unit (0/I, Set, Resume, Cancel, +, -) according to the values measurement (vcds).

... the following faults are obtained in the engine unit due to the ABS unit according to ODIS and possibly to other incompatibilities (unknown to me).

Engines Polo 6R = Euro5 or Euro5 plus. ABS unit = TP 1.6

I installed a new T2 connector for testing with the LIN wires.

- the communication wire with the ECU was changed from T41/26 or T41/29 to T41/11. (T73b/45 not required)

New stalks without CCS buttons are required (see first image).

I'll send them to you on Monday, Michel.

I've managed to 95% crack the code of ESC (ABS + ESP + TSC unit for Transporter T6, Caddy 2016).
I've ordered this part for testing: http://www.ebay.de/itm/VW-Caddy-4-2K-VW ... 2749.l2649
It is found in i.e. Transporter T6 with MFS+CC

I've also managed to 95% crack the code of MK60EC1 (ABS + ESP + TSC unit for PQ35 and PQ25 Jetta, Beetle).
It is found in i.e. Jetta 2016 with 6C0 MFS+CC
The magic number is 6C0959442C with 1K0 907 379 xx
--> http://www.oemepc.com/vw/part_single/ca ... d/0/lang/e
--> http://forums.ross-tech.com/showthread. ... -auto-scan (PQ35!)

If you are interested in the code, I can happily send it to you guys by email (might be interesting for our Russian friends too).
I'm slightly struggling for some bytes, somewhere in 2014 it went from 18 bytes long coding to 19 bytes long coding to 20 bytes long coding.
The latest 1K0 907 397 BS supports many interesting functions such as ACC, PLA, 2-stage ESC/ASR disable, CC by MFS
Remember some things:
We probably need T6 ABS or MK60EC1
We probably need T6 BCM 7E0
We probably need Polo 6C MFS

Questions:
Will it work with normal CC?
Will we manage Adaptive CC?

Stay tuned.

Parts we have currently:
T6 ABS unit
Polo 6C MFS buttons
T6 BCM 7E0 937 090 x
Polo 6R European spec

I guess the T6 ABS module is easily fitted (T5.1 in my case) do you know if only the module can be changed, I did this in the caddy and it worked well.

i'm not sure whether it will fit. the internals of the 7E0 907 379 L (T5.1) looks like this:

7E0 907 379 P looks like this:

I'd say it's not a match. But maybe first check out whether your T5.1 unit is working with the CC.

Ah yes, they are completely different, what bits/bytes need to be changed in the ABS module? I do have standard CC on the stalk from factory

I haven't found any bits in the T6 ABS for CC by MFS

Retrofitting of Cruise Control by MFS on Polo 6R, T5, T6

Post by Adam87 »

As Ciclo has, I have checked operation of buttons in engine control module and this is what it reads

64 nothing pressed
96 RES pressed
80 SET pressed
66 CANCEL pressed
72 + pressed
68 - pressed
No change - ACC button pressed
No change - 0/1 button pressed

Cool. Does it function while driving?

Not tried whilst driving, when I set in engine ECU ACC value in long coding, I get errors and flashing lights in cluster, maybe due to missing ACC radar, what would be the value in ECU for CC by MFS? I can try that

Yes, could be due to missing ACC radar.

For the coding, probably the coding from ciclo in the 1st post will apply to your T5.1 as well.

I already have the coding set that ciclo suggests in his post, hopefully I will have the radar installed in the next few weeks, but I'm guessing that isn't going to be easy (programming, calibration etc), I'll have to look through my emails as ciclo sent me some details on CCS/ACC etc coding for the engine control module and possibly try some other combinations

Ah okay, good! The fact that engine ECU recognizes the button presses is great news anyway!

If the T6 ABS works in my polo, next step will be ACC retrofit for me as well.

Yes definitely a good start, it would seem it's only coding (or abs maybe) that is stopping it from functioning, is the ABS module going to be a straight swap? Pin assignment, hydraulics etc?

From the pictures, hydraulics and mountings seem to match.

Pinouts from Polo 6R are definitely not a match. Not sure about T5. Here are the pinouts for Polo 6R ESP 8.2i and 9.0i compared to T6

Thanks iichel, I will compare to T5 pinout later, I have just bought the same T6 ABS pump as you listed

Just compared the T5 pin assignment to the T6 and they are definitely not the same either, will you replace the +30 and GND to 6.0 cable? Other than that, I guess it's just pin swaps.
