Retrofit armrest

Post by marky9074 »

Hi there,

Read a lot of threads regarding the retrofitting of the armrest, and looking to source one for my new GTI. From what I can see there are two that regularly get mentioned, the Oriental parts one and the AliExpress one:
http://orientalparts.com/OEM-Center-Con ... 49463.aspx
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-sh ... 4.2.MtU4tf

I am not too fussed about having the bottle holder, so would probably go for the Oriental Parts one IF it really is OEM/Genuine? However, I have also seen this one, which troubles me with the comment (might have marks during shipping):
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Geniune-Volks ... 2018724549

Any comments or preferences? I see a lot of the PhotoBucket images are not working from previous threads, so cannot really see the quality of the copies in the images...

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers.

Hi mate,
I've just got one of these myself and when I originally asked are there "any" marks currently on the stock they assured there are not.
Also in that price you get the choice between cloth or leather both OEM

The Aus one? Was it brand new in the box then? Any customs fee or other costs likely to catch me out?

Cheers.

It's due to be delivered on 29th August and there should be no customs tax as it's below £135.00 (hopefully)

Not seen any genuine, or as good as OEM in Europe. There are some on eBay, but not of the same quality/style...

Just an update on this. I have received my armrest today so just over 2 weeks early and pleased to say there are I marks on it whatsoever, it is of very good quality and the metal stand has VW moulded to it with a part number. There was no import tax for this item and I will fit it at weekend and let you know how it goes.

Nice one! I'm on a ship at the moment, so wont be home for another three weeks, but will make sure I order so it hits when I arrive home. Let us know how it goes, and definately post some pictures!

...actually re-reading your post. You said its two weeks early, but when did you order?

Cheers,

Mark

I ordered it on August 3rd and it was expected on August 29th but arrived today.
Also as an add on the leather top is a good quality finish too, better than a lot I have seen pics of

Hi,

Have you tried ARMSTER? I ordered one for my 2016 GTI having had one previously on my Fiesta.

UK stockists and quick delivery. Check it out.

Ordered last night from Aus. Prefer to keep it as stock/OEM as possible to be honest. Not sure if I will like a leather top (as apposed to cloth), but easily changed I guess.

I fitted a Chinese armrest early this year viewtopic.php?f=56&t=69254
unfortunately the pics don't work but I would defy anyone to tell it is not a factory fit.
