Update. sourced a AU MIB2 Standard + NAV (Same as my stock just later Hardware and software) Decidede against Discover Pro. I want either the new Polo or Golf 7.5 soon so will be a waste to spend silly money now when all I really want is App Connect. PS I do have my prior MIB2 STD with NAV Activated as well as a MIB2 High Discover Pro SSD unit for sale if anyone is interested. PM me
TMC Works Also has App-Connect and Maps for NAV
CP removed remotely the Other night via Poland and Teamviewer. All done legit via VW Technician. all paperwork legally complete
Tonight we reconnect and Restore all Activations remotely. we had a few problems with delay and connection to restore in 1 night.

Future plans.

WRC Bumper (like the idea of this!)
WRC Blue needles! any shed some light on part numbers or where to source these?
Stage 2. possible soon OEM+

Would anyone recommend the DSG tune? what really will I gain from this? its $1400 to do

so what do you need to get app connect to work?

i have a not quite right unit in my car and it seems i cannot upgrade to app connect (even though i have mirror link :roll: )

so i would like to get it working even if i have to get a unit from a scrap car.

I had the same problem. I think if your car was built pre week 22/2015 car connect was not available. neither is traffic. And this will never be able to install CarPlay.
I sourced a breakers on eBay selling a MIB2 STD +Nav (Same as what I have but newer hardware/Software revisions - basically post 22/2015) removed from a 2016 Golf. luckily they sent the screen, usb cables and plugs, original SD card with maps and the UNIT.

I then had an awesome member from a AU forum offer to help with CP removal (CP was in 5f and 19 for some reason). we met at his work and remotely did a connection to Poland where a technician removed CP legally (signed genuine VW waivers and had to send copies of my licences and passport as well as car documentation) so I could get sound working. unfortunately removing CP deactivates to Swap codes. This can be remedied by restoring them. as we found the option in Odis. the only problem was our connection was not good. and even with a battery charger on my car the battery became empty. So we are going to have another go at restoring this week hopefully.

Im sure VW local could've done this. but where is the fun in that =P

that sounds like far to much effort

i'm going to look more into the alpine offering to replace the existing unit

i don't know a lot about the MQB electronics but I would recommend to change the VCDS importer number, workshop code and equipment number all to non-zero values. now the equipment number appears to be 00000. that will sometimes result in errors when coding.
