Post by Pave »

What is the difference between two Polo 6R OEM xenon headlights with different part number... 6R1941031D / 6R1941032D and 6R1941039A / 6R1941040A??

Are those ....39A / .....40A just newer model or what?

You must buy one with this reference number, 6R1941039 A/B/C or D ... preferably with the same final letter as right bixenon headlight.

i remember something about earlier headlights having a more yellow tinted DRL LED, to match the xenons color. later models have a more blue/white tinted DRL LED

Damn!!
If that is correct, I think I have to buy same model / part number as the old one.... It´s not nice if DRL´s are different color tone...

I have to disassemble that left headlight as much as possbile and try to find out what causes that non working shutter....

The light is cut off, you just need to adjust your ( left or right, depending on LHD / RHD ) just a tad upwards, abd you'll be able to see the cuts correctly. Just as they are now, they stack one on top of the other so it seems like the light is straight.

That is the main difference!
Almost untill mid-2013 the leds had a warm colour: so warm that they almost look like halogen bulbs (~4000/4500K).
From the mid to the end of 2013 they had a little bit colder temperature (~5000K).
From the end of 2013/start of 2014 they have a way colder temperature (~5500/6000K).

I believe they also changed the material of external transparent plastic, because some of the first exemplars (2010/2011) had problems of many little cracks on the internal side, as a reaction to the xenon light.

Thanks for the all info!!

Does anyone know the structure of those lights?

Is there anything that can be done without disassembling whole light in million parts??

Because high beam / shutter in that my left light works sometimes just right, but maybe next day it won´t!!
Someday when I start the car, light work fine, but for example if I parked the car for visiting at the shop, then when I came back and started.. the light won´t work anymore ?!?!

So can there be some mechanical stiffness in shutter part... or some electrical problems or what...

Or is it only option to buy a new one.... ??

Pave, have you looked up the EKTA catalogue and found exactly what you get when you buy a new headlight assembly - I think that the answer is very little expect the bare assembly with a range control motor and some covers.

Now I'd guess that if you knew exactly which part of that headlight assembly is faulty, then you could buy only that part, even the range control motor is available as a spare item, but you would need to read up the workshop manuals to see how to "introduce" any new active elements into that headlight, ie basic initial mechanical alignment and then basic setting to allow the car's systems to know how to move things into their correct positions.

Back in Maybe 2004, my 2000 VW Passat 4Motion needed a new head light assembly as the MOT tester had broken an manual alignment mechanism, that cost me about 1.5 labour for all the parts to get transferred over to my new light assembly - and that was just a light unit with dipped beam HID in it, main beam was halogen - so no shutter in that system.

Edit:- the other issue is, and maybe I have not read all the postings in this thread, or you confident that it is the shutter motor assembly that is faulty and not its drive signal etc, BTW I did not spot any obvious "shutter control motor" listed as a spare part, so it must have another name in VW world. Although there are two different motors in the parts listing, though I'd guess the one that comes already built into a new headlight assembly is probably the one that controls what we call the shutter.

One more question about those different version...

So is that last letter what tells the tint of leds?? Or is the manufacturing date??
Why I´m asking is that now I got 07/13 manufactured light which have D last letter at part number...
Now I wonder do I have to get another light what is manufactured "From the mid to the end of 2013 they had a little bit colder temperature (~5000K)"
Or are all lights with last letter D at same LED tint?
Because there are for sale lights which have D, but those are manufactured for example end of 2012....
