I believe so... I was under the impression that the coding that ciclo gave me set everything up in advance.

I have checked through the coding the Light sensor function is active.

I will post an auto-scan when I get home from work :)

graylscott wrote: Thu Jan 18, 2018 12:11 pm Okay, so here it goes!

First of all, I want to say what feels like my 1000th thank you to you Fernando! I received my gift earlier on this week! :D

This morning, I finally got enough time away from work to play!

So, all is working with the headlight switch as I would expect. All lighting is now controlled via the BCM.

However....

I still have no auto-lights.

But the plot thickens......

When I set the switch to Auto, the lights do not come on whether it is dark or light outside.

But....

When the switch is set to auto, the 'Leaving-Home' works as expected. i.e. only when it is dark, and only when the headlight switch is set to auto.

Which surely means that both the light sensing feature of the RLS is working correctly, and the 'Auto' setting on the headlight switch is working correctly.

I ran some output tests on each of the individual lights, and sure enough they are all controlled via the BCM.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Gray
If the 'Leaving Home function' is working it means that the wiring installation is correct.
By the way, the Coming Home function is by pulling the Stalk for High Beam once, after removing the keys from the ignition switch.
It's a semiautomatic function.

Something makes me think that the problem may be the light switch, due to the first attempts you made before opening this topic.

I'm going to do some researches about your RLS.... wait please.

I apologize for the delay in answering you.

This was my thinking, which is why I found it so strange.

I ordered a new light switch thinking that this may be the problem. Mine came with one of those auto-headlight retrofit kits from China. It has a VW part number on it, but i suspect it is not genuine.
Plus, I saw yours and Adam87's 6C switch and had to have it

I'm sure this isn't the problem, but I should tell you that I have not wired in the auto-dimming mirror. I have no rear window!

Don't apologise! I have been off the radar all week (very busy with work), when I should have been on here metaphorically kissing your feet! So I am sorry!

I hope you don't think from my post that I was doubting you in any way, I was looking for you to tell me where I have gone wrong!

Let me know if you need any more info from me!

You sir, are a genius!

All working! But you knew that.

The top half of my LEDs are still not working, however I suspect that I neglected to reconnect something while I had the headlights open to change them from LHD to RHD.

I will open them up again tomorrow and take photos once they are back together and fully working!

Thank you so much Fernando!

Everything has its logic.
After you show us the images or video of the lights (when possible for you), we review other units and anything else that may be necessary...
Please, to confirm, just now is the moment to post a new autoscan (again, when possible for you, there's no hurry). Thanks.

It would also be good if you get some picture of the headlights opened up, are the LED’s replaceable?

Your china switch is likely genuine. Most of the VW china stuff is real, it just has a slightly different part number :)

Okay... so luckily I noticed this before I started pulling my headlight units apart again.

I suspect that the problem with my LEDs was not caused by my work to switch from LHD to RHD, but was in fact a purchasing error.

On inspection of the pin layout on the LED ballast, I noticed that it is wildly different to the pins layout of the connector coming from the headlight unit!

Unbeknownst to me, the part numbers for the LED ballasts are identical for many cars in the VW group apart from the last letter.

When purchasing, I assumed that the important part of the number was '4G0907697' and the the 'H' at the end was nothing more than a revision of the same part. How wrong I was!!!!

In reality, the pin layout of 4G0907697H is completely different to the layout on 4G0907697G.

A quick google imaged search, reveals that the pin layout of LED ballast 4G0907697G is identical to the pin layout of the connector from my the headlights.

I have now ordered 2 x 4G0907697G and will hopefully be posting pictures of my fully functional LEDs shortly!

Well, after driving around with uneven DRLs for a week, the second module finally arrived!! :D

Fully functioning headlights, curtesy of ciclo!

DRLs only

Dipped beam

Full Beam

All auto-light functions including coming home and leaving home work perfectly! :D

As you can see, I have also had my new front bumper back from the paint shop!

The headlight washers are plumbed in, but not wired. On a test fire (pump wired direct to battery) both of the washers lift, but water only comes from one of them. I think I have a faulty washer. :x

Suffice to say, I am very pleased with my new headlight setup!!! Thanks Fernando!
