Ciclo, don’t know if you can assist? I am looking to upgrade the BCM on a T5.1 2013

I currently have Image

And I have been given Image

I eventually want to install auto lights and maybe HBA but that’s a bit down the line at the moment

It’s a 2014 model year ‘E’

Please, Bizmo, read this topic in its entirety.

It is easier than it seems, you must logically forget the part of the bixenon headlights (if you don't want to install them at this time).
Focus your attention on BCM Max adaptation (7E0937090) and on the installation/diagrams of the wiring for automatic lights.
The processes are identical.

We need a autoscan from your T5GP as recently as possible and pics from your T-17 light switch connector and fusebox.

we'll continue...

Thanks, my VCDS cable is only micro can so ordering a new one which supports the t5, once that has come will send you a scan.

In the meantime I’ll order some cable and terminals :)

Oh and the fuse / relay holders.

Anything else?

Also if I just plug my new bcm in now and copy the coding over will it function without re-wiring? Promised my old one to someone!

Light switch with Auto function and Relay.

hmm... fabric/cloth tape, plastic clamp ties...

You can do it..., but you must bear in mind that it's a temporary measure. (during wiring installation)
Better the less time you spend in these conditions --- new 7E0 BCM and no re-wiring ---

Do not forget to make an Autoscan before removing the old BCM.

---

Do you know where the new BCM comes from (donor car)?

Thanks, will do.

Got it from my local VW who said it was new and ordered for a T6 but not used. Not sure if it will have any coding for the T6 already in it.

If it's new, it will have a basic/generic coding.

- You have to do everything indicated  here, it's easy.

Starting to put together a shopping list.

So far 1 have

2.5mm cable yellow 5m x2 - power supply to BCU
  • 4x SPT Terminals
    2x MCP 5.8 Terminals
    Fuse holder 6Q0 937 617 B
    2x 30A Fuses
1.5mm cable yellow 2m - SB5 to BCU
1.5mm cable black 2m - SB27 to BCU
  • 2x SPT Terminals
    2x MCP 2.8 Terminals
0.5mm cable 3x colours
  • SB28a to BCU 2m - 1x MQS Terminal
SC12a to BCU 2m - SPT one end and MCP 1.5 other
SC14a to BCU 2m - SPT one end and MCP 1.5 other
0.5mm cable yellow 1m
0.5mm cable black 1m - CAN lines twisted
  • Not sure which terminals
1mm cable green 2m - reverse light
  • Not sure which terminals

——————————————————

Then from there we have the light switch cabling which is
0.5mm cable 6 colours
  • Red audio connector
    Not sure which terminals

Then wiring for automatic lights
Not got anywhere on this one other than 6Q0937617B fuse holder with 646 Fuse

—————————————————————-

Could you also let me know why there is such a difference in this topic and the wiring PDF for Adam87? Adams seems to have a lot more cables.

Could you also let me know a good source of terminals? I’m struggling to source them in quantities of less than 500!

Please read this topic again, but this time pay attention to the images, diagrams. Ref numbers, etc...

Could you also let me know why there is such a difference in this topic and the wiring PDF for Adam87? Adams seems to have a lot more cables.

Yes, the project for Adam87 was the first we did for the T5, ,,,and in addition to the automatic lights it also included the High Beam Assist.

1- BCM adaptation + automatic lights, etc ... this topic. (Elsawin T5)

2- BCM adaptation + automatic lights + High Beam Assist, etc ... We would have to open a new topic and elaborate the information according to the new diagrams posted here. (Elsawin T6) ...but I'm not willing to do it for obvious reasons.

The electrrical installation for Adam87 will be unique (I mean the wiring configuration).

Could you also let me know a good source of terminals? I’m struggling to source them in quantities of less than 500!

Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you, full scan is bellow

I messaged the person about the terminals but haven’t got any reply from them? Do you have another source?

I don't have another source for these specific contact-terminals, but there are a huge amount of websites that sell them.
(google search by ref. number? https://www.a4-freunde.com/showwiki.php ... uebersicht)

I must be a lucky one, dachsmax@web.de - Mr. Heiko - always answers me. :|

Thanks, everything written in this topic can be applied to adapt your new 7E0 BCM Max to your Transporter with H4 headlights from factory.

You have to install the RLS so that the automatic lights work.
Do you intend to install the RLS? (in order to provide you the right codings)

Post a new autoscan with the new 7E0 BCM installed/present once you have done the electrical installation, I'll provide you the new codings in order to correct the possible faults.
(remember to tell me what new parts you have installed whenever you post a new autoscan)

Hmm, maybe graylscott can help you to locate everything you need to do this installation.

Yes going to install the RLS, just need to source a new windscreen then should be good to go - is there any benefit to the round rls from the T6 over the squarer one from the T5? Do they fit in the same windscreen mounting?

Will sit down this evening and make a shopping list and buy the rest of the bits that I need.

Thanks for all your help

T5 RLS vs T6 RLS
Don't fit in the same retaining plates. Logically.
e.g. viewtopic.php?f=56&t=70442&start=45#p531196

Square T5 RLS perfectly fulfills its main missions.
Round T6 RLS some benefit should have with respect to the square T5 RLS.
