Hi pettman.
No, the fog lights (+ SCLs) for the T5 are already under the control of BCM, so you only need to install the original wire (T17/8) to slot 3 of the red connector.

Great!, thanks for the report reido80.reido80 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 01, 2021 5:38 pm Hello, and a Happy New Year to you all.
I just wanted to say hello and say thank you again to Ciclo and all that have contributed to this thread without your help I would not have been able to carry out these modifications.
I am pleased to report that my installation, which by no means was done quickly has been successful.
After a few months with the van off road during lockdown, carrying out various repairs and upgrades including new EGR cooler, upgraded clutch and intercooler, I then discovered that my Cylinder head gasket was leaking exhaust gas into the coolant system! Thankfully it was just the head gasket and the head was fine!
I had that sorted out at a VW main dealer and finally got it back into use properly in November. (I had a new Polo as a courtesy car, a 1.0TSI which was fully loaded with extras and was a joy to drive for such a small engine)
I have to say that the modification has made the world of difference to the function of the lights. The previous bodge job and state of wiring was unbelievable and undoubtedly affected the light output, especially when on full beam.
The extra functions of auto lights/wipers, CH/LH lights and properly functioning DRL LED's are great and the BCM max has opened up a few other extras in coding including TPMS and being able to reset the service reminder through the MFD, which is a function that is also new.
I have not carried out a Scan since my last post when I corrected my mistake with the level sensor wiring but will do that soon and give everything a check over.
All the best for the new year.
Very happy new year!

Ciclo, quick update from me. Installed all the fuse box to BCM wires and guess what? The IC bulb light has gone, who would of thought it!
Only thing I noticed that didn’t work was my DRL’s, I did the following adaptation for the DRLs:

But this is fine as I have not finished the wiring yet, I now need to install my other looms and complete the adaptation, just thought I’d let you knowRemove & isolate original wires 12a (SC12 5A fuse) and 14a (SC14 5A fuse).
Install
New 0,5mm wire from 12a to T73b/3 . Left DRL
New 0,5mm wire from 14a to T73a/5. Right DRL
Use the same fuses.

Re: Auto headlight retrofit. VW Transporter. T5 (2010-2015)
Thank you very much for letting me know, we are on the right track.
The DRLs will work once you have installed the activation wire that goes to T73b/29 (which is part of the wiring for automatic lights and wiring for BCM --> light switch 'Red connector').
Re: Auto headlight retrofit. VW Transporter. T5 (2010-2015)
Ciclo - tonight’s update
I have completed all wiring and plugged in my new headlight switch.
Good news is sidelights, dipped beam, front fogs all work as expected
Bad news is DRLs dont work still and the rear fog light doesn’t work and throws a dash bulb error.
I need to scan in the morning and post that to you as I feel that will tell us more.
Stand by for the autoscan

Re: Auto headlight retrofit. VW Transporter. T5 (2010-2015)
Waiting for the autoscan.
However, I already made a new BCM coding for your T5 based on the last autoscan posted here.
- BCM Max plus Automatic lights (pettman's T5):
B8B0793A0A61240393284EB06CEB9FDC5F00612F60842041300000020000
Note: rain closing function will not work on your T5, the door units do not have the proper SW/HW.
Please show us a picture of the AUTO light switch you are using.
The new wires connection for the rear fog light is very simple (>b43--a6>, + NSL) , it should work unless you are using an AUTO light switch for the MQB platform instead of PQ.
---
Today will be a very busy day for me, if you want, copy and paste this new BCM coding and tell us the results, or do a new Autoscan (after all the wiring installation is done), post it here, and wait for us to review it.
In any case, any fault detected will be corrected later.

Re: Auto headlight retrofit. VW Transporter. T5 (2010-2015)
Morning ciclo,
Many thanks for the advanced coding, I have applied that and performed another rescan, to my embarrassment I had done some poor terminal connections and meant that I had to re-do them as the first auto scan I did picked up loads of things wrong, but I traced and fixed those, here is the proper scan now:
When I turn on rear fog lights I then get the following:
Bulbs are fine, I checked
Now when I set the light switch to auto now in the light, I just get DRL's on, which I believe is correct. As a test I covered the sensor up and the headlights came on, but they didn't turn back off again, how long do they take before turning off?
Here is my light switch:
If so, what is the correct part number for it?
EDIT - possibly 3C8941431A? I have purchased another one just to rule out the switch, if this still doesnt work I can send it back, but it is specifically for my vehicle!

Now when I set the light switch to auto now in the light, I just get DRL's on, which I believe is correct. As a test I covered the sensor up and the headlights came on, but they didn't turn back off again, how long do they take before turning off?
Here is my light switch:
I have installed the 2x30amp wires from the ebox to the 2 BCM plugs, forgive me but I do not understand this part, may you elaborate? I have checked the continuity from the BCM to the plugs on the other end of the switch and connectors and they all are correct. I may have to assume its something to do with the switch? It came with my RLS kit, there are no visible part numbers on it, should I source another switch?
If so, what is the correct part number for it?
EDIT - possibly 3C8941431A? I have purchased another one just to rule out the switch, if this still doesnt work I can send it back, but it is specifically for my vehicle!

Re: Auto headlight retrofit. VW Transporter. T5 (2010-2015)
Good morning pettman,
Something is wrong with the electrical installation you have done.
As for the rear fog light, we are going to trace the route that the wiring runs:
1- For the rear fog light to work the 7E0 BCM Max must be powered by pin T73a/63, which is correct on your T5 at this time.
2- The activation signal comes from the AUTO light switch -from pin T10/7 -, goes through pin T10/4 of the red connector (according to diagram pg4), and enters through pin T73b/43 of the BCM.
3- The BCM manages the activation signal and sends the power through T73a/6 so that the rear fog lamp comes on. In the middle of this path is the connection you have made with the T73a/6 wire ---> joint to <--- old wire T17/9 ---> from here the wire goes to the original fuse and rear fog light bulb (LED bulb?).
The AUTO light switch seems totally correct, but since we don't have the exact reference we can't be 100% sure.
Suitable references:
- 5ND 941 431B XSH or 3C8 941 431A XSH.
When buying these switches (either of both) one has to make sure that the switch is labeled with the VW reference, we know from multiples experiences that there are very cheap and very low quality switches that are not recommended at all (your life is at stake).
Regarding the operation of the DRLs:
- They must work with the switch in 0 position, and in the AUTO position in daytime conditions (other lights off, i.e, not activated by the RLS).
---
AUTO light switch functions, CH / LH and automatic lights.
Light switch in AUTO position ... (always in AUTO ... I no longer remember if some day due to the fog I changed it to another position).
Note: On PQ25 it is necessary to change the position of the light switch if you want to activate the fog lights, on other platforms (MQB) you can activate the fog lights from the AUTO position by pulling from the knob of switch.
Headlight Activation (automatic).
...Automatic headlight activation ensures optimum vehicle lighting at all times, without the driver having to switch the headlights on or off manually. The system offers the driver a significant gain in terms of convenience and safety. The headlights are automatically switched on by means of a dusk sensor as darkness sets in, or when driving through a tunnel in the daytime. But the headlights are also activated in rain (continuous wipe for more than 5 seconds) or at high speed (at speeds over 140 km/h for longer than 10 seconds). When the speed drops again or the wipers are switched off, the system automatically deactivates the headlights after a short time. In this way your own vehicle is more easily seen by other road users...
Coming Home (semi-automatic on PQ25).
Remove the key from the ignition switch (OFF), pull the HB lever once (HB flash), when you open the door or with the door open the lights will turn on for a period of time (15 sec factory, it is modifiable) .
Leaving Home (automatic).
By pressing the opening button on the remote control (15 sec from factory, it is modifiable)
---
Regarding the detected fault of implausible signal of the ignition starter switch (03444) I am going to review the diagrams to try to find the possible fault in the wiring you have installed.
Note: The DRLs may not turn on with the light switch position 0 due to this fault.

Regarding the detected fault of implausible signal of the ignition starter switch (03444) I am going to review the diagrams to try to find the possible fault in the wiring you have installed.
Note: The DRLs may not turn on with the light switch position 0 due to this fault.
Re: Auto headlight retrofit. VW Transporter. T5 (2010-2015)
Morning ciclo
Ok this morning I will test just that wire on its own and confirm it’s wired in locations.
DRLs work as expected at the moment, in both 0 and Auto position. As far as I can tell the only thing not working is rear fog. Cornering lights work, high beam etc.
Fog lights are normal bulbs
I was wondering if the implausible signal is because the battery might be getting low? As not driven it while been testing. Started it up a couple times but that’s about it.
I’ll check the wiring as I think your right a wire isn’t quite right somewhere.

Re: Auto headlight retrofit. VW Transporter. T5 (2010-2015)
Perfect, almost everything seems to be working fine, the BCM coding is correct, and only those little hiccups remain to be determined.
I await your report after your checks, ... while I take a look at the diagrams ...
edit
When it's safe to drive, take a ride of at least 20 minutes with your T5 ... then the autoscan.

Re: Auto headlight retrofit. VW Transporter. T5 (2010-2015)
So ciclo the plot thickens...
There is a connection from T10/7 > T10/4 (red connector) > T73b/43 multi meter confirms
There also is a connection from T73a/6 wire ---> joint to (this is a JPT 2 way terminal block) <--- old wire T17/9 grey/green - checked both sides of the connector for a signal, confirmed by a multimeter.
I also checked SB17 fuse wasnt blown, its not, I also checked for 12v when turning on the rear fog light on the switch, this then activated power to that fuse, confirmed by multimeter.
So either there still is something wrong with the wiring, or the rear bulbs are blown, but I did a visual check yesterday and both filaments in the bulb were in tact.
EDIT
Think im wrong.....hold on

Re: Auto headlight retrofit. VW Transporter. T5 (2010-2015)
Time to come clean...in more ways than one.
1. ciclo is a brilliant mind and his wiring is 100%
2. check all your lights work and you get no codes before doing this
Because if you dont, what happens is you get a problem where the rear fog doesnt work and then you check the bulb, but you check the wrong bulb, then when its not dark and -1 outside you look in the day time and realise the bulb you checked was the wrong one and the one that should of had very close attention is this...
Cleaned, refitted, plugged in, all working! Cant believe I didnt check this properly, always the simple things.
So I dont want to ask, but does this mean I am done? Autolights retro fit complete?

Yeah!, you're done as long as your BCM doesn't report any faults with the VCDS diagnostic.
Very good job.
Enjoy it!

I need to do one last scan before I can close this off, which I will do later on, going to tidy some wires now. But all functionality appears to be there.
With the coding you gave me did that enable CH/LH lights?

If you had read what I posted here viewtopic.php?p=579032#p579032 and verified it on your T5, you wouldn't have to ask ...
Yes, they are already enabled in your BCM coding.
