Halogen DRL in Polo 6R

Great forum you have here! I am from India.

I recently got a 2015 Polo GT 1.2 TSI DSG (6R/60 "IND")

When watching a YouTube review of the 6C Polo (UK) - LINK - I noticed that the UK Polo 6C has a DRL at the far corners of it's fog-lamps:







I checked the fog lamps in my car, but the section which houses the DRL bulb in the 6C is blanked out and serves no purpose



So I searched around for a replacement set of 6C fog-lamps which has bulbs for both fogs and DRL - I ordered a set from HERE

I received the fog-lamps, and there are 2 bulbs on each one - for fog and DRL.

Can I use my existing BCM to wire these DRLs? Here is the BCM that came with my car:

I searched around the forums and have seen that someone else from India has done this mod - HERE - but I see that car has a higher revision of the BCM

I dug around with the coding helper in VCDS and these option are available on my BCM - so does that mean my BCM is supported?

It's certainly possible in your Polo, but you'll be running a variation that is not through your BCM.

What you'll do is:
Run 1 wire from the light switch pin 3 (junior power timer) to Fuse 56 in the fuse box (56a, standard power timer)
From the fuse box fuse 56 (56b, standard power timer) run a wire to each DRL bulb pin 1 (junior power timer).
Basically, version 1 of this image (by ciclo)

That is correct, only the BCM high/max supports it this way but that's okay.
At least, I googled a picture of your BCM and it doesn't seem to have the appropriate pins for the DRL via BCM. Only cars with start/stop system have the halogen DRL via BCM.
You car does not have the DRL via BCM or the appropriate BCM (ending in 088/089/090).

The DRL via light switch/fuse box is a perfectly OEM solution as well, so it's allright to settle for that.
If you're interested in the BCM max anyway, you could open a topic and ask ciclo to make you a wiring/guide.
But let's not go offtopic..

I have ordered the mating connector for the DRL bulbs (not present in my car as it did not come with the DRLs). Once those arrive, I will start this little project

It seems some lucrative mods are done with BCM max, so there certainly is an itch for it
But for now, I am content with the one in my car

today, I took out my BCM and photographed it. @ iichel - could you check it and give a final confirmation that this BCM cannot support DRL

I completed the install using the diagram shared by iichel (through lightswitch pin 3 without bcm)

yes, I installed a new 15A fuse in the fusebox (no. 56) and routed the power to the bulb through this fuse (as instruction in diagram)

Since this is a non BCM operated DRL, does it support other DRL functions like dimming or turning off on indicator lights?
