Out of interest, what was the procedure for fitting/getting the LED headlights?

I managed to find a set on Ebay total cost was £125 delivered, whilst they where on my desk I cleaned them up and installed "Lampa 57840 10–30 V Halo LED (H7)" found on amazon around £60 each needed 4, two main beam two low beam, rebuilt the loom to suite original, tested and fitted.

the lights where originally plug and play but used the standard bulbs I wanted LED so made the changes.

Hi there Tombirch95. Great work on the Polo. I Have a Polo Beats and looking at yours you wouldn't notice the difference. I am just finishing off a few interior/exterior visual touches. Adding a shark fin aerial and waiting for Interior Door Bins Mat Cup Holder Rubber Pad Set.
Love the car and the power of music :D :D

Sourced all the parts for the composite media, created the looms and got to work with removing component protection (permanently)

Took a good few days of work but I’ve successfully Removed/disabled component protection, all features on the head unit work, such as app connect and nav etc, device has been on for well over 24 hours straight with no issues or errors.

Just need to neaten up the wiring and it’s ready to fit to the car.

I’ve had the whole test bench set up, spare BCM and ECU and cluster and diagnostics port and all works and talks.

how did you manage to get app connect working without using the dealership. ive swapped my glovebox unit out with one with app connect and even vw couldnt get it to enable.

i know it works because it did when i connected it up but as soon as the cp was removed i lost that functionality

Hello, VW are utter useless sometimes, I took a unit to them first to set about them removing component protection they did not want to go near it, that was Liverpool Volkswagen.

I then set aside allot of time and researched into how CP worked and what it did, then I found a polo in a breakers yard and got my hands on the interior loom, BMC, Infotainment unit, Cluster to be fair looking back most of the electronics on the interior side that use the CanBus system. I then set it all up on my test bench and made it work like in the car although it wasn't in the car. I then spent alloy of time with different signal analysers reading the signals when different functions are turned on, started reading EEproms and memory chips on the different modules to work out how CP Worked. when I had gathered all my data I was able to reconstruct the data to run without CP and flash it back to all the modules, I did have to replace quite allot of the electronic chips.

not for the faint hearted :p

I’m working on a way to offer a plug and play option to retrofit

More bench testing today, getting closer to a being able to offer this to others.

Just a thought who would be interested in having this done?

One step closer to offering a solution to 6R and other vag cars to fit the Volkswagen infotainment system allowing CarPlay and other features.

So far i have 9 units running non stop with no more component protection issues.

I have a body control module and also a cluster ( both from the same car) and infotainment units that are not programmed to the BCM or cluster so CP would kick in.

Infotainment units tested so far:

3Q0035820
3Q0035820A
3Q0035842
3Q0035842B
5G00358874
3Q0035874B
3Q0035846A
5C0035680G
5K7035200G

I’ve also managed to get “component protection active” removed without dealer assistance.

Will soon be documenting the whole set up as it’s in my car (polo 6R 2011) with working infotainment system.
