Interior fan speed broken

Post by follows93 »

Hi everyone,

I've searched through the forum but couldn't find anything - I feel like this is probably a common issue!

I have a 2016 Polo Gti Dsg.

The interior fan speed between 1-3 have all stopped working bar 4. So I'm either sweating or getting my face blown off!

So a couple of questions:

- I guess it's the resistor that's gone?

- Does anyone know if this would be under warranty as I still have it till March next year?

- Has anyone got a part number?

- Any tips if I do the work?

Alex

It sounds like it may be the fan speed resistor that has failed. I had a similar experience with my 9N polo. I'm guessing it should be covered under warranty, if not, it's a pretty easy fix, if not a little bit fiddly. I did mine and it took me about 30mins all in.

My best stab at a part number would be 6Q0959263A (series resistor) but I'm not 100% on that, so would check it yourself. I seem to remember it cost me around £18 ish.

I found a little youtube video on how to swap them, unfortunately it's not in English, but you should be able to get the gist of how to do it should you fancy having a go yourself.

Great thanks very much for that, top man. I'll give my local VW a call on Monday.

At least it's not an expensive fix if it's not under warranty

It’ll likely be the fan resistor but yes it’ll be fixed under warranty at no cost to you
