Post by roby293 »

Hi to all!!
This forum is great, I like it!!
I'm here because my Polo is crazy...Unfortunately I can't solve my problem, so I did a scan with VCDS.

This is my log.

The "real" problems are these:
- when I turn the key, the on-board computer gives me this message "error", but it don't say me what it's the error, only text "error",
- then the light check lamp lights up, but everything works,
- when I turn on the light switch: the dimmer, the light of the window, and the light of the cigarette lighter, doesn't work...

But all of the components works.

The instrument panel itself reports an internal electrical failure
The check engine light could be caused by the glow plug
The dimmer could be broken or the wire from BCM to the dimmer. Do you have a multimeter?

I'd recommend:
- Make an autoscan, clear all DTC's (on the left panel)
- Drive the car for a bit, couple of days of normal use
- Make new scan, see what returns. All errors are intermittent, so they don't appear all the time. This way we can see what really needs to be done.

Check the status of terminal 58 in the BCM (advanced measurement values, scroll for something like this). Does the radio/AC panel light red when you put the headlihts on?
If this is OK and if you have the chance, check the wire from BCM connector T73b (white) pin 1 to the dimmer pin 3. Make sure it's not broken, check for continuity with a multimeter.

Huge thanks, i'll try.
For now I tried to pull out the dimmer but the headlight regulator motor works.
Maybe tonight I post a video because it's more esplicative.

Anyway radio works, but I have an Alpine and the backlights work.
The only backlights that work are on-board computer, radio and AC.

You could perhaps measure the voltage on pin 3 of the dimmer with headlights on. Should be 12v+

Thank you very much.
This is a video of what I got https://drive.google.com/open?id=1byoak ... Z5Imn29eQ7

Tomorrow I will try to measure pin 3 of the dimmer.

If I help you, this problem is born in this way:
I buy a new switch light with a brightness sensor to have "AUTO" light, then with VCDS I activate the function "light sensor" or some similar but I can't remember the number of the byte. After the message "coding accepted" I have the problem that I write above.
I tried to deactivate the function but nothing changed.

Have a look on your c:\ross tech\vcds\debug\codinglog.txt.
If possible, paste the contents here. If you know when it happened, the correct bcm coding is in there.

This BCM coding will solve your problems in the BCM. Copy and paste with accuracy, that is, without spaces when copying.

24B02BBF08A10000002005B07C6B9CD08F88610F7E8E2041200000000000

Added the "Coming Home" function (semi-automatic function). :)

---
At first, do not install the light switch with the non-original light sensor. Then do what you think is convenient ...

Tried but I don't have this file, only "Readme.txt"
Anyway I don't tried with a tester to measure the pin 3 of the dimmer. I tried to "see" if the dimmer receiving the current with a bulb. The results was that the dimmer don't receiving current, so I connected a +12v to the pin 3 of the dimmer, and it works. But I don't want to solve in this way because the on-board computer give me always the check light error and the message "error" like the video I uploaded on my GDrive above.

Thanks, I will try this and post the result!!
I hope to solve it in the easiest way, because not even my electrician managed to solve the problem.

EDIT: Ciclo, huge thanks!!! After paste the code, I got a "coding accepted" message and all work again!!! Unbelievable!!!
