Polo 6C Daylight Running Lights

Post by zakelijk19 »

I have an polo 6c with DRL and cornering lights. Headlights are full led.
At the moment DRL is on in every position ( adapted by previous owner )
I was wondering if someone can guide me in how to:

in 0 position DRL off
in city light position DRL on
in low beam DRL off

if not possible then just like factory only DRL on in 0 position.

Thanks alot.

I don't suppose this is very legal, is it?

Going by what someone wrote in a Skoda Fabia forum, it does sound like someone has changed the DRL to work in "Scandinavian" mode, which probably means that the rear lights are on always as well.

I will use them dimmed at 30% brightness so they will function as city light.
So if someone can help out would be great.

And others if you still think its illegal, just like factory only DRL in 0 position

I have a Scandi Polo with DRLs. Only the small front lights are permanently on. The back lights only come on once the light sensor brings the main headlights on.

Terrible news, Scandi countries should have stuck with what was better - and the rest of us would have caught up - eventually!

It may be worth your while having a look at the switch wiring to see if the drl wire is permanently powered up, for example, like some one taking the drl wire out of the tfl position and re-connecting it to the the ignition controlled feed or similar arrangement. I am asking because the lightswitch itself is construced to allow power from ignition to pass through to the drl system when the lights are in the "0" position. If this is the case on your car it could well be that some one has simply snipped the drl tfl wire and joined it to the ignition feed that headlamp position also uses.

Let me know how you get on because im also interested in how the bcm behaves in regard to such matters!

You can change it with Carista/OBEleven/VCDS etc.

My Polo GTI 6C w/ DRL are also on in every position. I used Carista to turn them off in position 0.
