Might be worth a try as most dealers wont retail your R32 due to its age so will only pass it on

It seems a buyers market at that moment and hoping for a good price as adding cash and no finance so I won’t give it away,,,
Wifey just wants rid but I would rather try to sell it privately ,, at least for a couple of weeks,,,
Our Porsche sold very quickly earlier this year,,,well advertised
Or too cheap ? Will never know now,,,
I will go else where other then VW main dealers if needed,,,

Just back from Lancaster’s VW main dealers,,,
Sales chap was very nice ,,not at all pushy and offered between
£5k to £6k for our unwashed lol R32 against a 2015/16 Polo Gti,,
Chap also mentioned if heated seats were a “ deal breaker” then they would retro fit them and this would not effect the warranty of course,
So we have until first couple of weeks in feb to get rid privately or decide to trade,,,
I have decided to stick it on auto trader at the weekend and hope it should go as purely cosmetic stuff needed,,,,
Car was mot and serviced last week and a new clutch and flywheel exactly one year ago ( 2018) at a cost of just over £1300 and with last two owners being female the car has never been driven as it should be ,,
apart from when I take her out lol,,
So a great little R32 overserviced with Haldex not due for another two years I believe,,,,,
What do members thing of our trade in offer?,,
Almost sure it will be £5k instead of £6k once they have it in,,,

It might be worth trying Tootle (www.tootle.co.uk). I’ve not used this myself so can’t vouch for how effective it is, but you provide details of your car and a number of dealers will offer you a price to buy it, and you are free to accept the best offer or not without any obligation. Might be an alternative or an additional option to consider, rather than just advertising on Auto Trader, when you might just get the tyre kickers and time wasters coming to view your car.

The ‘We Buy Any Car’ (WBAC) website enables you to get an indicative price of what they’d offer you for your car. It’s free to do this, and there’s no comeback by WBAC, other than they may send you a few e-mails. If you input your reg no, and you’re honest about the condition, it’ll give you a valuation figure that you could probably consider as the low end of what you’d be likely to get for your R32 as a trade in. Important to be honest about the condition though. I’ve seen WBAC criticised by many over inflated indicative valuations - this could be because those using the website valuation facility don’t declare stone chips, dings, wheel scuffs etc. If you declare any such ‘damage’, their valuation figure will be adjusted to reflect this.

There are other on line valuation tools, so worth trying two or three to get a range of valuation figures. It’s always good to be armed with as much ammunition as possible when negotiating with the dealer.

The AW GTI is available as a manual too, but it was introduced late last year so it may be hard to find a used one with manual at the moment.

No, and the manual version of the current (AW) Polo GTI isn’t available to order in the UK yet. OP is looking for a manual version of the previous model (6c) Polo GTI.

While what you wrote is true, taken in isolation of the above posting that I was responding to, what I said in my reply was relevant - okay!

Just thought I would mention the we are now considering a DSG box after the salesman explained to my wife at my request ,, how the box works and also about Hill hold assist so she feels reassured that an auto now is not like an auto in the 70s and early 80s lol
So a manual first but if it’s the right car for the right money then won’t rule out dsg at least until she drives one,
Hope to have one by mid February to coincide with my wife’s birthday and have increased budget to £13.5 k

Just remember that if you do get a dsg make sure you get a good warranty.

They have been known to have there problems and vw even had to turn the torque output down on the engine to protect it.

Well put it this way, supposedly, with the advent of new versions of traditional auto trans systems, DSG type systems are being quietly phased out, just how long this will take and if the better traditional auto trans systems come up to being good, remains to be seen.

The dsg in the polo is a dry clutch system so not that strong.

There have been people that have had 3 boxes in 20k but they may been driven hard.

The mechatronics unit also seems to be a bit prone to randomly dying.
