20,000km service 6c 1.2tsi

Post by Black6c »

Wondering what is the required maintenance routine for my second service on my polo. Oil has to be replaced obviously, but what else needs to be done?

I've just checked what was done on my wife's 2015 Polo 1.2TSI 110PS at its 2nd service - and it was only oil, filter and pollen filter, as well as a check on everything else.

That’s the same I have done on the previous service... wondering if there’s a difference in service plans between the 90 tsi and 110 tsi because initially I thought it would be more expensive to own having a stringer engine and what not

In UK and some other areas, the pollen filter only gets replaced every 2 years, one thing that I noticed is, my VW dealer listed "engine cleaner/flusher" - I can't remember the exact wording, during the 2nd service, which should be a Major or Inspection service, so either they throw in an oil flushing additive and run the engine for 10 minutes before dropping the oil out, but only at every other oil change, I can't say, it was not listed in the 3rd Minor or Oil change service.

Called the main dealer here in Israel and when I asked what needed to be done for this service I was told that in addition to replacing various filters and oil they said the brake fluid needs to be replaced which seems odd for such a low mile car (20,500). As a result this service will cost double from what I anticipated for it to be!!
What’s even weirder is that a different garage (one that doesnt belong to VW Israel but specializes in VWs didn’t mention replacing brake fluid and therefore was at a much more reasonable price) my question is am I being fooled or is it standard procedure???

In the UK, the first brake fluid change is at 3 years and the every two years after that. Brake fluid changes don’t tend to be mileage dependent; they are time-dependent.

Brake fluid is hygroscopic, so absorbs moisture over time and becomes less effective. This will happen irrespective of a car’s mileage. Incidentally, my car is being serviced today - its 3rd service as the car is coming up to 3 years old - and I’m having the brake fluid changed. My car’s mileage is just over 17,800 miles.

I have done research after posting my previous reply and found what you mentioned, I just think it’s weird that there are some inconsistencies between garages, called two other garages for pricing though they should call back tomorrow. I’m leaning on not replacing the brake fluid as I think I can squeeze it next time. Thanks for you help!
