Stage 1 remap for 2016 Polo GTI 6c reliable?
Stage 1 remap for 2016 Polo GTI 6c reliable?
I was thinking about getting my 2016 Polo GTI 6c stage 1 remapped from 192bhp to 235bhp and from 320NM of torque to 380NM and I’ll be getting a Racingline induction kit fitted at the same time. Will my car be able to handle the increases due to everything being factory standard?

Yeah you shouldn't have no problems with a stage 1 remap as long as its a decent map.

The clutch can become a weak point but you won't really be stressing it with 380Nm of torque.
People are running 370bhp without problems with engine or gearbox.

Do you know how much torque the gearbox and clutch can cope with in my car?
Thanks mate you have put my mind at rest

I think the manual is rated for 350nm and the dsg7 can handle 250nm.

Thank you iichel so should I avoid mapping it up to 380NM?

People only tend to get problems with the clutch when pushing past 400+Nm.
I wouldn't worry about the gearbox itself (its basically the same thats used in some golf R's)

Okay thank you Dink,
So I shall be getting her remapped by performance edge remaps, apparently they are really good from what I have heard. Let’s hope my clutch does cope with lol

Hi Nathan
Like you i'm looking at a remap and have concerns about the clutch. Having looked into options, Sachs offer an uprated organic clutch that will comfortably handle the torque with compromise to the feel of the clutch. The only downside being is approx £600 plus fitting. Once my warranty is up in Sept this year im going for a stage 1 and will budget for the Sachs clutch should I need it

Re: Stage 1 remap for 2016 Polo GTI 6c reliable?
Hi - I recently have become the owner of a 6C GTI (DSG)
Would anyone have any recommendations for a well respected tuning company - looking specifically at a Stage 1 map for the moment
Am I right in saying the map will need to be torque limited, to keep the gearbox OK?
Sorry for the newb questions, first time in a VAG car and just want some pointers
Cheers in advance

Hi all.
Late answer to post but I have just flashed APR Stage 1 to my Polo 6C GTI.
Manual clutch does not even go close to handling the extra torque.
Love the tune, but DEFINATELY factor in a replacement clutch.
