Ho Hum. My immediate reaction when I removed the screen was ... problem. I had expected a large infotainment module. I was certain I was on a road to nowhere, but the instructions said " clear wire to pin 6, Black wire to pin 12" on 12 pin connector. As there were empty pins 6 & 12 on a 12 pin connector that's where I went. Clearly now wrong.

But in hindsight (the only other word of instruction) are Radio/Navi Quadlock Green 12 pin connector So clearly I am in the wrong place.

I will revisit in the morning, But I wonder will this be OK. Does it sense the camera signal, or will I still have a coding problem?

You don't have to apologise for anything.

the main problem is the the 6r and 6c are both technically the same but the biggest change is the electrics, so instructions for 6r don't get changed to actually suit the 6c.

i'm pretty sure that once you plug it into the brains in the glove box it should work fine

OK, I finally got to revisit this Rear View Camera installation this morning. removed the glovebox, slid out the "brains" located pins 6 & 12 on the green connector, etc. All good.

Made temporary connections for ground & power.

Then I revisited the VCDS coding.

Unfortunately I still have the same behaviour.
1) If I select RVC in the Infotainment module (Bit19 I think) the display re configures with a smaller image of the car and space for the camera image: but no camera image. But it just works for one "putting into reverse" cycle, and then displays "park assist not available" and no parking related screen displayed. (i.e no front/ rear sensors/ camera space). If I deselect camera in long code the parking screen reappears.

2) If I select RVC installed in "Park-Steer Assist" Module it has no apparent affect, either singly or in combination with 1) above.

So I have no proof that the camera works, but it probably does.

I strongly suspect the issue is coding related. I have done the coding , powered off, locked the car, had a cup of tea, etc, but behaviour is always the same

I can't find any other reference to camera in the VCDS.

What thoughts?

So correct me if I am wrong but are the transparent and black cable, that are added to pin 6 and 12 respectively, suppose to go to the blue connector and not the green one?

Still no joy, getting a bit baffled at this stage
I had another look at this and revised the connection to the blue connector, pins 6&12 (thanks for that correction). I will post a photo later.

I was certain I had found my error: as well as the incorrect instructions that shipped with the camera I have ( it said to connect to pins 6 & 12 on the GREEN connector), I had been cheating by not digging out the reversing light wire to connect to the yellow wire and just connection to +12 to test, but suggestions are this causes a timing error and causes the "Park Assist unavailable" error that others have mentioned.
I planed to prove function before pulling off the bumper.

So now I have everything connected correctly ( pins 6 (transparent) & 12(black) on Blue connector, Brown to gnd, Red to +12 & yellow to reversing light.
VCDS coded on Steer/Park to "RVC fitted" and also on 5f infotainment to RVC fitted.
I have seen several references to this coding and it appears to be all that is needed.

But still no joy. When I re-coded and put into reverse, I got the correct revised screen layout, but no image: black space where an RVC image should be. Then I realised the hatch was not shut, so closed it fully, in case it expected that closed. Unfortunately it then reverted to the "Park Assist not available" message. I coded, uncoded, checked wiring multiple times, but no progress.

I am beginning to think I have a dodgy camera. I am suspicious of Vag-tec as while the website is lovely, I think it's a chap in Poland in a shed. (nothing wrong with that, but this chap does not reply to email...)

This I did not know if I was chasing a real problem, or working with a faulty item.

Does anyone have a recommendation of a decent supplier of a POLO 6C RVC, at a reasonable price?

it is another polish company but don't try hide the fact and you can see there building on google maps.

i have the low line camera and thinking of changing to the one in the boot lid as the one in the bumper is useless when wet/dirty

might be slightly off topic, but does anyone know what the partnumber is of the flip logo camera that is used to retrofit on a polo 6C? carsystems have it but do not mention the partnumber. It's not a golf 6 fliplogo camera either as they do not match, but have the same fit?

Passat B8's logo is the same like in Polo AW/T-Roc, but Passat B8 has HighLine camera:

and need special adaptations to work properly:



Polo AW has Lowline camera so it's plug&play, only required little coding.
Golf 7 has also Lowline camera, but different logo because of tailgate, but you can use Golf 7 wiring
