215/45 R16 tire pressure

Post by Black6c »

Just swapped for 16s. Wondering what’s the correct tire pressure for them. The previous 185/60 R15 I filled with 39 psi front and 36 back. Now I put 36 psi all around, is it ok?

Hi it should say in your owners manual or on the fuel flap what tire psi should be used with your polo!

Still quoting for lightly loaded 39psi front, 36psi rear on my wife's August 2015 1.2TSI 110PS SEL 5 door.

Edit:- you are still within "comfort pressure zone" - so okay, I wander around year to year (I use summer and winter wheels/tyres) round about 35>38 fronts and 36>40 rears, I can't explain why! Maybe depends on first expected use load/speed?

I see, that’s what I thought as well but I read that the tire’s limit is 40 psi (as oppose to 50 of the previous set) so I don’t feel confident enough to fill it all the way to 39 now. What’s the limit on your tires?

The sticker on the fuel lid does not say for what size tires. On other VAGs there was a chart for which sizes and what pressure to fill each one on certain loads, which I find weird to not have here.

P.s - most of the time I drive an empty car (only me in it) rarely do I take 3-5 people). I also notice that the car is MUCH more stable at speeds and corners more confidently. It also does not spin the tires when I slightly give it some gas from a stand still it hooks much better and totally transformed the look of the car.
