Big brake upgrade 6r GTI
So I’ve just driven to the Nurburgring from the UK done a few laps with the car and was very impressed the only thing is the standard brakes obvs got hot and was almost useless! I have had my car mapped to stage 2 and running 230bhp! But was just wondering if any one has bought any of the big brake kits and which one is good etc! Have been looking at the tarox b30’s 6 pots with the 323mm brake discs! But any way any advice will be grateful

Re: Big brake upgrade 6r GTI
I'm running seat leon cupra R(mk1) brakes on my 6c gti. Both front and rear.
They are 4 pot brembo calipers with 323mm discs front and 256mm vented rear discs. I also installed ebc yellowstuff pads all round.
They are bolt on upgrade just need a set of hoses made up for the front.
I'm looking to be going 350bhp+ so should be ok

350bhp?! That’s crazy! But thanks for the advice I’ll have a look into them! And if it’s just bolt on will be a lot easier!

What backing plates did you use? do the Seat ones fit, or did you not bother with them?Dink wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2019 10:27 am I'm running seat leon cupra R(mk1) brakes on my 6c gti. Both front and rear.

Re: Big brake upgrade 6r GTI
the design of the stock ones don't overlap the edge of the disc so just left the stock ones in place

Interesting. Do you mean there was enough space around the 312 discs on the backing plates for the 323 to fit in the backing plate recess (like the 323 and 334 use the same backing plates), or do you mean that the actual disc sits a bit forward, so not actually in the backing plate recess and is flush or slightly wider than the actual backing plate?

Re: Big brake upgrade 6r GTI
The disc is slightly outside the recess of the backing plate so the disc sits slightly infront of the backing plate.
I'm 99% sure that's the case it was a while ago when i fitted them. I know i just cut the lip off the rears to fit them.

Re: Big brake upgrade 6r GTI
This the only photo ive got of the brake setup
Using the stock wheels i had to fit a 15mm spacer to clear the brakes
