Hi Guys
After speaking to a VW Coder not sure if I'm going to retrofit a composition unit that supports car play.
As he told me because my polo is a 2015 and they only introduced car play in 2016 I would need to remove the component protection (easy enough) but then would have to patch the system and get a licence for it which would be around the £500 mark . Plus second hand units are selling for around £60.
For this sort of money I was thinking there must be a stereo that looks and performs similar to factory ones with less headache
Unless anyone knows a coder that would charge less??
Antn

Re: Aftermarket stereo?
Not all cars have app connect even after week 22 2015
I've seen 2017 cars not have the option for app connect.
The issue with coding is that vw charge a minimum amount to log into their system, so they can't charge less than that.
The app connect is an FeC which doesn't need patching.
I believe that once you have a new unit coded to your car it should update the database for app connect to be able to be enabled

Re: Aftermarket stereo?
Not a clue tbh.
The reason i went to vw after i had component protection removed was because the coder i went too didn't know how to do it.
They seemed to know exactly what needed to be done.
The way i see it that it's about £200 to get back to where you started.
