VW UP automatic lights

Post by H2Deetoo »

Hi guys,

Let me introduce myself, I am Bonny from Holland. We own a Passat Variant B6/3C (2008) and VW UP (2014), no idea what model or type
I know this is a Polo forum, but it resembles the VW UP platform very much (PQ25), so I decided to join here.

I develop hardware, software, to do specific things with cars (canbus, linbus).
That's how I got interested in this matter, and now I do retrofitting in our own cars and sometimes for others as well.
Much experience with retrofitting clusters, steering wheels, and many more modules on PQ platform.

Using information on this forum I have replaced the VW UP BCM for one which supports MFSW (1S0 937 090 F) and added/changed the appropriate wiring.
So far all seems fine (still waiting on the right airbag loom to arrive). Thanks for sharing this info.
(I have some questions regarding this retrofit but I'll make a new topic for that.)

Now that I have this new (high? max?) BCM I thought about adding automatic and CH/LH lights.
After studying some guides from here I see a small problem arising: my lightswitch connector T17 has 2 extra wires on 13+14.
What are these signals used for, and what should be done with them?

If more info is needed please let me know and I will provide it.

Best regards,
Bonny

From my polo wiring diagram, pin 14 goes to BcM T73a/45. Same like pin 16 depending on equipment list. This normally for DRL TFL always on light.

Hmm ok, our VW UP doesn't have any DRL lights.
It does have foglights though.

maybe you can check at the pin behind the switch. normally it is printed with some legends there.
