Radio Removal Polo GTI 2016 (6C) adding a amp, cam
Hi, I'm wanting to remove the radio/touch screen to add a amp connection on the rear + add a power wire to a camera from the usb port connections.
First is there any trick to getting the trim around the radio off?
Once that is off, it's just undo the 4 bolts and slide out?
What colour wires is it for the front left/right speakers?
Also what wire for the radio is it I want, i think on to the Ariel so I can link that to the amp on wire?
Next the glove box, think its just unbolt, but anything to take special care with?
Front and read, passanger side foot well trims they just slide an pull up?
Now the camera power.
We're would be the best place to link to the usb header cable for power to run to a camera, it would then need to go to the rear view mirror area.
I've been meaning to ask this for ages just life's for us all has been ruff of late.
Thanks

The head unit is in the glovebox.
The screen in the dash is just a screen.
If it's for a dash cam I'd just find a supply in fuse box for it as i believe the usb goes to a small plug in connection that's not easy to access.
There might be an aerial output but there is a good chance it will only put when on radio.

Oh so we're the CD is in the glove box, is the main radio unit, so speaker wires are behind there etc?
The Ariel power from my past experience, it's what I've used. Yet will have to check if there is power as u say when not on radio, as it can happen.
The usb by the cigerite lighter I want to use for the camera power. So better to look at the fuse box am after the usb 5v

Yeah the cd player is where everything thing is wired to. It can be a right pig to get out but will come out.
What i was getting at with the usb is that the only access to the 5v would be at the port by the cigarette lighter. So for the camera id just get a 12v to 5v converter and pick a supply up from the fusebox.
I did look into finding a switched supply out of the head unit but didn't find anything useful as i wanted to fit a small amp behind the head unit to boost the speakers a bit.

So can you not use the wire that switchs the touchscreen on, that would then supply the on to the amp.
I guess a converter would be a Easyer way to go, yet was hopeing to use the vw one, if it's that bad will do as you advise.
I Would need a constant live to add the converter to, in the fuse box. Any ideas?
I don't think the vw usb is powered constantly anyway.

The touch screen is wired with a similar connector as the usb so there is no wires to access as such.
The usb is driven from the head unit so only gets power while the unit is on.
If you need a constant 5v then you would need to get that from the fusebox anyway.

Re: Radio removal polo gti 2016 (6c)
Sounds like you mean a T harness (i used one of these to fit my pioneer gm-d1004 amp)
You can then take the audio to the amp and back from the amp just by plugging it in.

Aye I have not worked on a 2016 polo before that's why I am asking here for info.
I stoped doing mechanics about 8 years ago now and just work on my own car.

you need to make sure it is fully populated (52 way) which that looks like it isn't tbhTrebleTA wrote: ↑Sat Jul 04, 2020 11:37 am Is this the correct one?

Re: Radio removal polo gti 2016 (6c)
I've ordered the one you linked, thank you. Just need to think of a way to send the on power to the amp now. What did you do?
Will update more once I get the t harness.
Thanks again Dink

What fuse slot would you use for a camera, need a mini fuse slot constant, so when the car is locked it will still power, and for the amp switch on wire thinking f19 the telephone?
