VW T5.1 Caravelle BCM Upgrade and Cruise Control on Steering Wheel...SOLVED

Post by Limalex »

Hello Guys,
I am posting here beause I heard there are some talented members of this forum whose willing to help us T5 owners.

My goal is to retrofit CCS on MFSW

I attempted to swap my old BCM 7H0 937 087 H 0254 H47 to a 7E0 937 090 D 0762 H82.

I followed the guide I find here and it seamed a really easy upgrade, but encountered some issues during the process. I hope I will be able to get some help and guidance how to solve the issue.

First problem was the Remote adaptation.
When I choose the Adaptation option. I got error on Chanel 01 Not Available massage in VCDS
Also a getting various fault codes. Electric windows not working, indicators not working.
I knew about the instrument lighting issue from previous posts, but was not expecting the rest,

Hello Limalex,

For the BCM change please read the first steps at the end of this post.
https://www.uk-polos.net/viewtopic.php? ... 30#p573280 (The first thing...)

However I advise you to read the entire thread.

---

For the CCS in the MFSW there is a Cruise Control Emulator, it is not OEM.
I have it installed. 8)
All the information here: viewtopic.php?f=56&t=58703&start=4725#p564515
Please read the entire page, sometimes the links don't work properly.
To get a CCE you have to speak to Madwarlock.

Hi ciclo,

Thank you to jump in and the links with the info.

It look like i stuck at the very beginning. I would need dealer remote matching. I do not have a clue how much they would charge but find out tomorrow.

I will come back to this topic when it sorted.

Do I need to remove the two wires from the instrument cluster and the white connector of the BCM or it meant for the Auto light install only?

I glad there is an emulator so do not have to find some one who able to patch my ECU

Graylscot mentioned on the tread you linked running two wires from the instrument cluster to the BCM when he was upgraded to 090 BCM. Where can I found info regarding the wiring needed?

I explain to you:

To make the change from BCM High 087 to Max 090 (7E0 937 090 D in your case), the first thing you have to do is install new CAN lines for the instrument cluster, disconnecting and isolating individually the two wires from the current CAN lines on the Instrument Cluster connector (which belong to the powertrain and they are still active for other units).

The change from BCM High to Max does not have to be related to wanting to install automatic lights later.

The image is very clear. Install this wiring in this way.
Image
In your white BCM connector the 54, 57 slots are empty at this time, that is, before installing the new CAN lines.

The new CAN lines for the instrument cluster are two twisted cables (the usual ones used in VW group), in this case with MQS terminals (x4) at both ends. You can make them yourself or ask someone to make them for you.

Apart from that, the configuration of the current electrical wiring of your lights with BCM high 087 is not correct to install the BCM Max 090, an adaptation must be made. Adding and isolating some cables.
The main objective is to get most of the lights to be controlled by the BCM, which is not the case with your current electrical configuration.
Once the electrical configuration is correct, a new BCM coding is necessary.

With patience, please read the thread that graylscott opened and you may see a little more light on it. https://www.uk-polos.net/viewtopic.php? ... 36#p528319

You don't need the VW dealer at all to match your remotes if you have VCDS.
Please reread my first reply here. (link and there the links to ross-tech)

Ok I understand wiring and there are some good info in the threads you linked, but I still got no solution for the key adaptation.

I do not want to start any wiring until the keys adapted and I can lock/unlock my doors.

VW dealer suggested it is not working because the BCM not for a Caravelle and they wanted me to purchase the same part number but with an M suffix.

I got Factory mode off
Old keys deleted from BCM
I have no KESSY module and adaptation Chanel for the key coding is not available.
I also on Ross tech forum but not much luck overthere regarding this issue

Could it be related to the CAN wires?
I just do not want to start re arrange wiring until i am 100% sure that i will be able to code my keys. Cannot spend £600 for a new BCM

Hello Limalex.
You can only be 100% sure that you will be able to code your remotes when you have connected the new CAN lines for your instrument cluster.
Do it.

Good luck!
Please tell us the results, thanks.

Thank you Sir.

I gonna put things on motion and report back soon.

I contacted MaDwArLoCk regarding the emulator ( hopefully he will gets my message because my Russian is not exist :) ) and ordered some wiring for the BCM upgrade
One question regarding the wiring work you done with the CCE. I can see three black connector but only two part numbers.
What is the part number the remaining one?
Do you know the part number the white connector what comes with the CCE by any chance?

Look how fast helped me to overcome my fears. You can add more speciality in your tool box now :)

Hi ciclo,

What I was worried about It happened.

I installed the two CAN lines
Also the two 30A lines from the Ebox to the BCM T73a63 and T73b68

I have not done the rest wiring work because my lights are working.

factory mode off
previous remotes cleared

No fault codes but key adaptation channel still not available

Hello Limalex,

Do this:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... sp=sharing

Host the resulting log/file in somewhere/web. Get a link to share.
Please post the link here so that I can download it. Thank you.

It is the first time I have seen this happen, maybe the previous owner played where he should not.

Well this BCM has some weird and unknown parameters to me. :)

Please tell me a little about the history of this BCM 7E0 ... 090D, such as place of purchase, donor car, etc ... any information is essential ...

There is a solution, do you have ODIS-E or VCP? or someone close and friend who has them.

Is this possible? :D

It was an ebay purchase i assume from a scrapyard. BCM taken from a 2019 2.0l 102 BHP Transporter

Nope, nether and dealer not willing to do any work for me on a second hand BCM either.

I will try ask around on other forums. I might find some one near London who willing to cooperate.

Could you please explain the problem?

Can i put the old BCM back with the new can line installed? do not care about fault codes, but I wish to lock the car.

Re: VW T5.1 Caravelle BCM Upgrade

Post by ciclo »

Hello Limalex.
Thanks for the info.👍
I fully understand your situation, the number one priority is to be able to lock the car over any other circumstance.

The problem is clearly visible, channel number 1 cannot be accessed, that is, it is not available (i mean easily, as usual).

Because this BCM is the last model that was installed in the VW T6 (PQ25) and before updating the firmware of your BCM (free for people who are from London :) ) we will try the following:

1- Before going to/enter in BCM adaptations you will introduce a Security Access (SA).

2- Try the following in this order:
30724
84244
31347

Note: every time you try one of these SAs you must close communication with the BCM and re-establish communication, that is, go back to the main page of the VCDS program and return to the BCM to test the next security access.
Sometimes it is necessary to wait a certain time between new SAs attempts, ... 30 sec is enough.

3- Once the SA is accepted, you must go to/enter the adaptation channels and check if channel number 1 is available.

4- Matching your remotes in such case (ross-tech process).

If for some reason you are forced to install the old BCM 087 for driving, you need to reconnect the old CAN lines to the instrument cluster and isolate the new ones.
If you are not going to drive I think it is not necessary to reconnect the old CAN lines, I am honestly not sure about this specific point. :|
It's easy, just try it to see what happens.

Please keep us informed of your tests. Thanks!
