Re: VW T5.1 Caravelle BCM Upgrade
Well, I have reread this entire thread to remember the process of installing the wiring looms on your T5.1 Caravelle.
Enter this new BCM coding:
A0B279382E61241393288ED06CEB8EDD5080612F60846041300003020000
- This new BCM coding implies having installed the wiring for BCM Max adaptation and the wiring for automatic lights.
- Check the operation of all lights, report the results together with a new Autoscan.
- Do not panic if there are faults or warning lights on, it may be due to the type of bulbs retrofitted or wires not installed, ... any problem will be solved later.
---
Edit
First we must make all this work correctly, later (if you want) we can try to make the stalks with return spring work for your T5, but this will involve installing a few more wires.

Re: VW T5.1 Caravelle BCM Upgrade
Hi Ciclo,
I would not mind to do a little more wiring since I become a crimping pro. I would rather keep the stalks and make them work than search an older one to fit. if you do not mind
Unfortunately not much changed with the coding. Control light still on.
I played around a little with VCDS and managed to somehow turn off the Control light. So at least my dash clear until it solved.
Here is the coding used: A0B279382E61241393288ED06CEB8EDDF08060FF60846041300003020000
It gives more faults on the scan but at least I cannot see that yellow control light.
Do you think I should refit the original bulbs?

Re: VW T5.1 Caravelle BCM Upgrade
Ok, later or tomorrow I will tell you the wires to add and/or isolate to try to make the stalks with return spring work in the 'OEM way'.
But first we have to confirm that everything works "correctly".
Some questions:
1- Did you install the new wires for the daytime running lights?
2- What type of bulb are you using for the license plate lights and daytime running lights?
3- Have you test the operation of the CH/LH and automatic lights?
Well, you have disabled the diagnostics of some bulbs, for now we will try to get everything to work with the LED bulbs without any "faults" or warning light on the IC, if we can't, you will have to install the original bulbs until you install some LED bulbs that have a somewhat higher consumption.
4- Just one more question regarding your BCM coding ... what is the reason for you to disable Byte18 Bit1?...

Ok Thank you,
1- Did you install the new wires for the daytime running lights?
I installed all the wiring to all lights, but not the light switch as I do not need automatic light.
2- What type of bulb are you using for the license plate lights and daytime running lights?
License plate lights original bulbs the rest on the front are supposed to be error free LEDs unbranded. They did not showed a fault before BCM upgrade. I m thinking to replace them to Phillips LED
3- Have you test the operation of the CH/LH and automatic lights?
CH/LH not working neither the cornering function of the fog lights and I do not have automatic lights installed
4- Just one more question regarding your BCM coding ... what is the reason for you to disable Byte18 Bit1?...
Byte 18 gives me various light set up options. With your coding nothing was set so I chose
60 Light setup: VW Transporter/Multivan (7E/7F) Double-Headlights (H7 - PR-8EL/PR-LOL) That is the original setting if I remember correctly

Re: VW T5.1 Caravelle BCM Upgrade
So why didn't you tell me you didn't have the automatic lights wiring installed when I gave you the first BCM coding? I guess we should do this job with a little common sense.
Now I get angry and I don't breathe.
I impose a punishment on you, install the original bulbs. (just kidding)

Re: VW T5.1 Caravelle BCM Upgrade
Sorry.it seems I misunderstand you. The wiring I installed is part of the automatic headlights. so I thought that is why you mentioned it.
We agreed at some point here that I do not need auto headlight function but I need to do the part 1,2,3 of the wiring adaptation
I hope you can breath now I do not want to lose you
I will do the punishment and report back asap

Re: VW T5.1 Caravelle BCM Upgrade
Don't do the punishment, it's a joke.
First is to install all the wiring and then we do the coding.
IMHO, if you don't install the AUTO switch there is no point in installing the stalks with return spring later.
---
If you need to move around with your Caravelle, go back to the BCM coding prior to my first new BCM coding.

Re: VW T5.1 Caravelle BCM Upgrade
Ok you got me
I was about to order a full set of original bulbs so I going to skip that for now.
I am not really up to Auto lights I do not even understand the fuss about it. I have it on my other vehicle and never use it. It is pointless for me spending money to something I am not finding useful.
I could have left my original stalks on but the trip button and cruise control was really bothering me. I would prefer the clean look and all functions on a steering wheel. I hope this weekend I will have some time finally instal the emulator too
is there a correlation between the stalks and auto headlight? If you say I must instal auto headlights to get the stalks work I happy to do it, but if it can be done without it I would prefer that way.
I do not even know what involves in auto headlight retro fit. I assume it is not just changing the switch

Re: VW T5.1 Caravelle BCM Upgrade
All T6s sold in the world have the stalks with return spring for the high beam function, but not all T6s have automatic lights.
Installing the T6 stalks in a T5 with basic electrical installation (in which a 7E0 BCM Max is adapted, mandatory) implies having an electronic control also over the high beams, ...apart from the rest of the lights.
1- The relay for automatic lights is no longer necessary, only a simple wire is necessary (T10/2 -> T73a/37) together with a new BCM coding/adaptation.
2- The high beams must be connected to the BCM at terminals T73/1 according to assignment.
3- It is necessary to modify the signals of the wires that reach and leave the T41 stalks connector in the slots 38 (+30), 39 (HB), 40 (LB), 41 (+15).
4- In all cases you need the light switch to have the small 10-pin connector. (I guess the one with the AUTO function is better and easier to get )

In you is the choice about what to do at this point...
it's better to waste the weekend reading and trying to understand the instructions than to regret it later.

Thank you the explanation Ciclo.
I like homework, however a weekend might not enough because my kids hanging on me constantly if I am off, but I will get there
I will report back on my progress

Re: VW T5.1 Caravelle BCM Upgrade
Ok I read a little.
I assume any of the aftermarket Auto light switches would work
The hardest bit is making the wiring for the automatic headlights and CH/LH.
I would need all this viewtopic.php?f=56&t=70736&p=528735#p528864
Would you be bale to make one for me too?
That way I can support your efforts and It would also made my life much easier
Please do not feel pushed. I can do it my self but in that case I need to spend a bit more time on a forum to figure out shopping list.

Re: VW T5.1 Caravelle BCM Upgrade
The light switch must be the one indicated, they cannot be the ones that belong to the MQB platform and family, they do not fit correctly and the electronics are something different.
A long time ago I said that I no longer manufacture wiring looms for anyone, and now I don't know what to tell you, ...I have to think about it ...
I have the exact parts to make your wiring looms from the last purchase of parts I made for these purposes ... but only and exclusively those that are seen in the images of the link (logically, it would include any more cables that are necessary for your electrical installation and that it also runs on said wiring looms).
However, are you going to install the 7E0 stalks with return spring?
It is so that I know if you are going to manufacture and install the necessary wires for the T41 connector and the two wires dedicated to the high beams (T73 / 1) that I mentioned in my previous post, in this way I would know if I have to include the relay in the wiring looms that you're resquesting me.

Re: VW T5.1 Caravelle BCM Upgrade
I am over the moon. Thank you
I did installed the stalks already and I will do the wiring needed on T41 I need to do some work on that area anyway to do the emulator installation.
Before all this I would like to clarify something. I might fallowed the wrong instruction regarding the wiring I made. I did it the way written in here step 1 and 2
[url]https://www.uk-polos.net/viewtopic.php? ... 6&start=45 [url]
But now I found the pdf you created to Adam87. I know it vehicle specific but there are some differences regarding the Can Lines,High Beam and DRL.
Should I follow some part of this guide regarding the T41 and the high beam?
1. instal T10/2 -> T73a/37 --------- What terminal do I needed for T10/2?
2.T41 stalks connector Remove & isolate original wires T41/38, 39, 40 and 41.-
For signals install new 0,5mm wire from T41/40 to T73a/62 (yellow wire) and 0,5mm wire from T41/39 to T73b/8 (black wire)
What terminals needed for T41?
3.High Beam: Instrument cluster, Remove & isolate original wire T32/14. and instal 1,5mm wire from 6a to T73b/1. High Beam Left (White mark) and
1,5mm wire from 28a to T73a/1. High Beam Right (Black mark) + signal 0,5mm wire to IC T32/14.

Re: VW T5.1 Caravelle BCM Upgrade
Returning to planet earth :
1- T10/2 -> T73a / 37 would be included in the wiring looms that I probably make for you.
2- T41 uses two types of terminals, the small MQS, and the large SPT (Standard Power Timer).
https://www.a4-freunde.com/showwiki.php ... uebersicht (SPT for 0.5-1 mm2 wire in this case)
Don't forget the new positive signals +15 and +30 for the other two slots.
3- I make a diagram for you and in this way there is no confusion about what you should do:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1TsjhBQ ... sp=sharing
56a = HB
56b = LB
Focus your attention on the 7E0 stalks, BCM and fuses.
You must do the BCM adaptation process for the lights indicated here https://www.uk-polos.net/viewtopic.php?p=528735#p528735
(including DRLs because you are not going to install Bixenon headlights), with the exception of the wires for high beams (High beam signal), for which you must refer to the diagram in this post, because you install the 7E0 stakls.
You already have the CAN lines installed correctly.

Re: VW T5.1 Caravelle BCM Upgrade
ok bit of a work to do.
A few more question
Where is the T10 connector?
What terminals should i put on +15 and +30 wires goes to T10 connector??
Is T10 should come with the new light switch?
You referring T10 as light switch, but on a diagram the light switch is T17. I heard about T10 connector but that one somewhere on the engine bay and that one needed for CCS retrofit
