Driver side electric window problem

Post by 05mccant »

Hi guys have a question for you!
I stupidly left my driver side window open slightly when it was raining on my 2011 polo.
It worked on and off for a day but since then it has no longer worked in putting the window down. However it makes the window go up.
My passenger one is fine on its own yet the driver side won’t control either sides.
The key fob will also work on both windows moving them up and down.
I think I can hear the switches are clicking I believe anyway.
Any ideas would be helpful in reducing the things it could be :)

Probably the water corroded the window switches, or there is moisture under the switches and you have a short circuit you should uninstall them, clean them and see if there is water still trapped under the switches.

I agree ..., clean, dry and very lightly grease the switches in the contact area. Be meticulous and careful with this task.
Remove the door panel to remove the switches, that is, release the tabs on the switch bracket from the inside of the panel, if you do it from the outside you are likely to break something.
