Upgrading to wiper stalks with trip and OK/RESET buttons.
Currently I have the basic instrument cluster and no trip or OK/RESET button on my stalks. My instrument cluster only shows the outside temperature, the time, trip and mileage/speed in mph like in the photo bellow.
My question is if I upgrade the stalks will I be able to switch between the screen modes in my instrument cluster? For example have the fuel consumption in real time or the speed or anything else? I was thinking of upgrading to a MFSW, but the stalks are cheaper.
Also would the upgrade be plug and play with some vcds coding or do I need to run new wires to the bcm or something?
Thank you for your time.
I am not sure about my IC's part number. If it's necessary I will go and check. I know it's last letter is F because I can't enable needle sweep on it.My question is if I upgrade the stalks will I be able to switch between the screen modes in my instrument cluster? Perhaps you can consider fitting cruise control as well.

From what I understand fitting cruise control is a bit of a hassle, with wires having to be run into the ECU which has secured bolts or something along those lines.
Right now to be honest I'm more set on installing heated seats. Even thought it may be harder I feel that they are a bit more important to me than cruise control. No doubt, I will eventually get on to adding it .

Never mind, it is not a straight swap.

I think you will need to change the connector, steering wheel angle sensor, and re pin. But im not 100% sure

there is not a suitable steering angle sender for these stalks, better not do it.

Re: Upgrading to wiper stalks with trip and OK/RESET buttons.
I've already ordered the standard stalks. They were taken off a broken down car. Let's hope they work.
Is there any chance the retrofit can't work? I remember trying to read the average fuel consumption with my friend's vcds. Tried to read some channel (I'm not sure which) and it said channel unavailable.

Re: Upgrading to wiper stalks with trip and OK/RESET buttons.
UPDATE POST RETROFIT.
So I managed to get everything done. Everything works perfectly. Probably the hardest thing about this retrofit is getting the right wires and getting the plastic housings off of the connectors.
There was one single hiccup. The clips on the bottom of the new stalks didn't match with the ones on the old slip ring. The ones on the stalks was a bit too high and didn't clip into the ones on the ring. It clipped perfectly on a the other spots and it sat pretty fit in there so I left it as is.
95km/h in 5th, it read 2.0l/100km .
3.4l/100km at 100km/h.
6.8l/100km at 150 is also pretty nice.
With the OEM arm rest and the newly retrofitted trip computer I'm probably closer to the Comfortline level than the original Trendline.

How difficult is it to install the stalks?mirceaculita wrote: ↑Thu Jun 10, 2021 12:52 pm UPDATE POST RETROFIT.

Re: Upgrading to wiper stalks with trip and OK/RESET buttons.
Not hard at all, as I've said, the hardest part is taking the covers off of the connectors and sourcing the right wires. The rest its just some plastic clips and like 4 bolts. Make sure the wires are plugged in the right spots, turn them on with vcds and it's done
