Polo 6C Automatic headlights
Hi guys, this is my first post here, glad to be part of Polo comunity.
To the subject. Couple months back i bought 6C GTI with LED headlights but it doesnt have the auto option. I searched this forum and found many options but i have one main thing different. I have rearview mirror with some sort of sensor array and when i leave my knob on 0 the dash slowly dims until it turns off, so there is light sensing capability. Is it possible to just buy OEM part for the lights with Auto setting and code the option using VAG-COM?
I would appreciate any advice or just direction where to start.

Re: Polo 6C Automatic headlights
I found this topic viewtopic.php?p=534711 but it didnt end up the way i want to upgrade my polo. Do you know the part number for 6C light switch with red backlight and the VCDS programming or is it just plug and play (doubt it).

No it's not plug and play but I don't know for sure how to program it on a 6C.

Re: Polo 6C Automatic headlights
I did this upgrade on my 6c myself, Lounge aka Comfortline trim level.
I had the light switch with rear and front fog lights option (5G0941431AH). Had to replace it with the one with the auto headlight option (5G0941431AF). Initially bought a chinese copy, but I don't recommend it, as the quality was noticeably worse. I ended up buying a used one.
In my case, the wiring for the light switch had all the required connections to the BCM already, so the light switch was plug and play.
The sensor was bought from eBay. It was marked as 5Q0955547B, but in really was a 5Q0955559. Working great so far!
Then it was just a matter of coding. My BCM is a 6C0937089B. It can make a more detailed description of the coding if you're interested.

That sounds awesome. It is exacly what i need. But i am not sure about the switch part number, because i think gti has red backlights in everything on the dash. Ill check when i get home.
Please send the coding for sure. I think it is just mattter of finding the red iluminated switch and i am good to go.

Thanks, did not know that. I found couple of used switches thanks to your codes, so i can get them pretty easily. I already have vcds, so it should be pretty easy.
Little of topic. Is there a website where to find code of genuine VW parts? I have project in mind with door arrest, but i dont know where to find the number.

ifinterface, oemepc, etka online, 7zap.
these are all online spin-offs from the original and proprietary VW ETKA catalogue.

Re: Polo 6C Automatic headlights
So here are the changes I had to make to get the RLS to work:
BCM long coding:
BCM long coding:
- Byte 06, bits 1:0 - changed from 00 to 10 (enables sensor of type 'PR 8K3/8K9+8n6')
- Byte 07, bit 5 - changed from 0 to 1 (enables 'Light switch with assistance driving light')
- Byte 07, bit 7 - changed from 0 to 1 (enables Humidity Sensor - not really needed but why not...)
- Byte 13, bit 5 - changed from 0 to 1 (enables Automatic Wipers)
- Byte 20, bits 1 - changed from 0 to 1 (enables LIN bus for RLS - took me a long long time to find out about this bit, sensor won't communicate if not enabled!)
- Access control 2 -> Regenschliessen: active - closing windows on rain; not sure if it actually works as I usually drive with windows up
- Access control 2 -> Menuesteuerung Regenschliessen: active - add rain closure menu option to infotainment
- Windshield wiper -> Regensensor aktivieren: active - rain sensor active
- Windshield wiper -> Regensensor aktivieren: active - rain sensor active

Re: Polo 6C Automatic headlights
Ok, so lights work flawlessly. It was 5 min job. Thanks for the help! But the automatic wipers dont work. I am not sure if there are 2 types of the sensor and my doesnt have the capability or i just did it wrong. Is there another coding to add the auto wiper option in the infotainment like the rain closing windows?

Yeah, sure. My girlfriend has it on Skoda Octavia 3. Excatly same stalk, but in 1st position it wipes once and then stops. Mine keeps going. And i dont have the option to turn the feature on and off in the menu.

Re: Polo 6C Automatic headlights
You could try checking the rain sensor live data while sprinkling some water in the sensor area. That would tell if the sensor is well installed and communicating.
