From Stock Golf 7.5 to….

Post by Carolco »

Hello.
I am Carolco and I have a stock golf 1.4 TSI with any extras.

The car was buyed with virtual cockpit version 790A, basic leds lights, 17 inches wheels, rear view camera, Kessy, dynamic leds rear, composition media and ACC.

The retrofits in my car was: Side Assist, Lane Assist, Alarm with sensors, TPMS, Dynamic Light Assist, Ergoactive Seats, 312 mm brakes disk (very recommended), change G13 to G12evo, change to MIB 2.5 , Drivers Profile, change front and rear speakers, change doors panel from golf R, insonorización in all doors, ambient lights in front doors, four foot lights, light in middle console, warning lights, open garage door in button of center console, PLA 3.0 (in progress), washer liquid fluid indicator (in progress), soundaktor (in progress), update the rear camera low to high version (in study phase).

The mods in the car was made with OBDeleven, like staging, ambient lights (only on virtual cockpit), codification for all the retrofits, personalization profiles, maps actualización, heart beet in start button, …..

My first adaptation was the staging using OBDeleven….. ahh good times….. only one bit ….

I have installed a virtual cockpit that no have maps visualization…. I was two years for understand that I have the 790A model, and it not is the 791A or 791B models…. Nothing to do with the codification for this…… the hardware is diferent.

I retrofited a MIB 2.5. The best reason is for use a more bigger screen. 1,2 inches more….. it have maps that the composition media don’t have…. Well, using OBDeleven I can se video in motion…..

But the great change comes with the frontal camera….. it controls to much options in the car. Lane assist, traffic assist and light assist. I buyed an old camera with 271H firmware. It works so well. But I would like update to 654L. I was searching in Russian forums and some users recommended stay in 272H firmware version. In some cases the traffic signs hang after 45 minutes. I think that it is a problem with the parameters file used after the flashing camera. I have the firmware file, but I don’t find @ xml file for the parameters good for my golf 7.5.
I am using odis e. Don’t have vcp and I don’t know nothing with vcp in Tenerife.

Can someone contribute ideas to update my camera to the model firmware 654L?

Any request will be well received

Hi, maybe your best option is to buy a used camera already parameterized with L software version (on eBay).

I only had the parameterization file for VCP, but I didn't even use it because the camera I bought on eBay for Golf 7.5 (from a German store) worked fine when installed and calibrated, with no faults or complaints regarding the dataset (parameterization). viewtopic.php?p=577653#p577653
In the eBay ad it said it was a used camera, but I think it was new because it had the typical factory coding (00 and FF Hex in all bytes).

I guess you already know this link/site: https://vwcoding.ru/MQB/camAssistFirmwares/

Hello Fernando. Thanks for your answers.

Yes, I see in eBay some used cameras with firm L from eBay. It came from Troc, tcros, tiguan, and ARTEON basically.

I don’t know if this cameras are good for golf 7.5, from point of view of the parametrization. Do you know, the vehicle original of your camera? Do you have the seller name for search?

In the page of firmware, there is a xml file for Tiguan. I think that the xml file may be diferent between the models of vw ( Tiguan, Artean, …).

The reason of the update is the opinion of the dla works better in this firmware. I saw the vag Italy vídeo too (from Simone Villa).

And if there are not problems with the traffic sign….

In the Spanish forum of golf an user shares me a xml file from seat Leon. I think that this vehicle is very similar to golf. But I would like to find the specific parameter file for my manual golf 7.5.

By the way, I saw your codification of A5 and 4B, and I used less bits activation. This are my codification file for this units, compared with a lot of 2019, 2018 golf vehicles, and the ARTEON ( similar in some things).

Hardware 4B: 3Q0907338. Versión 286 from stock. I had basic leds from stock, then I retrofit dla lights changing the lights.

My A5 camera came from a Golf 7.5 according to the eBay store ... and the information associated with the sale of the item.

Image

This is the eBay store, https://www.ebay.es/usr/rack-automobile , when I bought mine there were at least two or three cameras for sale ... I've looked now but I don't think they have any for sale.

My recommendation to buy it on eBay (in a prestigious German store) is because in many other eBay stores they are not accurate for these matters, which, as you already know, have an important relevance.
I can only say that I regret not buying two cameras instead of one. I usually buy two of each item when the parts are used/second hand.

You have to be patient and keep track of cameras by creating alerts on eBay, and do not try to save a few euros because an article is cheaper in a store with inaccuracies (risks are always taken).

I'll try to get your parameterization file (L) for ODIS, but I don't promise you anything.

The codings that I do in my modules are based on what is established in the factory, then what I think will work better, and later on personal tastes.
I never copy the codings from others, although I always study them.
The Dynamic Light Assist also works super perfect on my wife's Golf with my control units (hw/sw) and my codings, it is a real pleasure to drive at night. 8)👌

I recommend that you share some images of your Golf in the first post of this thread and the info of your car that you consider appropriate (mods, etc).

Good morning. Thanks your your answer Fernando.

I was updating my first post with more information about my car. Very grateful for your help.

I am searching for a new camera, because I think is better change with another from a similar vehicle (golf 7.5). But I would like test a firmware update and a parametrization in my actual camera with 271 version. I like test and learn with the errors. For this, I will use odis e. For the Side Assist radars I will make because I have the firmware file 081 and a xml parameter file for golf 7.

A few month the OBDeleven application allowed see the codification and the adaptations of a car using a vin number. Now this is not possible. With this option I could compare a few codification of lots models. The DLA, Side Assist, tpms and Lane assist was retrofited using this comparison method between the modules codification and adaptations. Of course, there is some information in forums.

I am studying to change the leds of the Side Assist, but I am stuck with the adaptation of the mirror housing.

Thank you for your introduction and sharing the images and information of your Golf. Very interesting! 8)

The information provided helps to help you with your questions/resquests ... would be ideal a complete autoscan ... but I suppose you don't have VCDS, so, for a better help, it would be interesting to know the manufacturing date (month and year) of your Golf.

I saw some of your activity on the OBD11 forum, nothing to worry about, this world of car forums is smaller than we think ...

Hello Fernando, good morning.

Yes, I was participating in the obd11 forum since the beginning of 2018, but I ended up getting bored, because they are not interested in doing things, but in promoting the obdeleven tool. If I want to thank the help provided by John or Don who are authentic gurus.

The manufacturing date of my car is 08-27-2017. It is a golf 7.5 facelift. I am trying to send a scan of my auo but it is not letting me do it.

I can send it to you by another means and you publish it?

Hello good morning to all.

A few months ago I had to change the water pump, I had the problem of corrosion by G13 coolant. The car had 46.000 kms only.

I put photos of the disaster. I have changed to G12 evo, which is what I recommend that you do as soon as possible .....

Another very interesting modification that I recommend is to improve the front brake system.

As it is configured from the factory, on a standard 17-inch rim, it can be adapted without problems.

The improvement translates into less fatigue when braking and an increase in the safe distance when braking.

There is more poise when braking and the car transmits more security.

The change consists in putting 312mm discs as in the GTD. Brake calipers and pads are changed.

Hi Carolco.

The Autoscan can only be posted when you have 10 posts. It is true that you should already have more than 10 posts but I deleted the posts from the dcgumis thread (my fault 🙏).
When you have 10 posts, please edit the first post with the Autoscan (don't forget to do it  ).

Thanks for your recommendation on the brakes, it's a huge improvement. 8)

About the G13 refrigerant there are tons of information on the net, videos, reports, etc ... due to the manufacturing date your Golf 2017 was one of those affected ... those little 'gifts' that are very annoying but at least have an easy solution. Thanks for your report and images.👍

I also have a gift for you :) , look in your inbox.
Please, it is only for you, you can share it, but not publicly through links or similar.
Once you have finished with the update/parameterization, please do the necessary tests and tell us if your camera L now works better or what differences you find. Thank you.

Hello Fernando.

Thank you very much for the document sent. I really want to try it. Let's see when I can do tests. I have a low battery level, so I am doing a few walks to charge it naturally.

Taking advantage of the occasion, comment that I also made the mod to open the intake, while changing the factory air filter for one of K & N oil. The truth is that you notice a more serious sound in the engine, as if it were roaring more. I like the sound it makes. Modification is easy using a dremel.

Greetings.

Hi there.

I would like to share a very simple mod to open the garage door.

In my case I had two controls, one of them with a broken puker. I have taken advantage of it. With a polymer, the positive and negative are located. When we press the button of the control the circuit is closed. Once these points are located, we solder two cables. One represented the positive and the other the negative, and we soldered it to the push-button of the three-button keypad that I had previously installed for the PLA mod, which by the way to see when I finish it .....

Having this keypad, take advantage of the tpme button that was not used so that when I press it, the garage door opens. It's the pear ...

In the diagram that happened with the keypad, the Tpms button is used with pins 9 and 10 marked with X, to connect positive and negative of the garage door opener. The rest of the buttons are for other uses ...

It is certainly a very useful improvement. 8)

For my wife's Golf I did it twice, first with the MODE button, but later I installed the driving profiles (FPA) in which it is necessary to have the MODE button operational, so I used the OFF button for TCS/ESP (diagram).

With these two buttons (MODE and TCS/ESP OFF) it is not necessary to make any modifications to integrated circuit board for buttons, just add the wires in the right way and 'everything' will work in the right way.

For our Golf LHD we like the left side better ... 👉->👇 🕹 ... (just kidding)
