Ive had both of windows fail in the past few weeks, the drivers side was due to a broken mech which had to be replaced and I just fixed the passenger side due to the window clamp not sitting in the clip on the runners, just had to click it back into place but I think its broken...

For what its worth my driver side window would not go up or down.

What had happened was a little plastic expanding clip had broken.

resulting in the window glass coming out of the tracking. It was

suggested that the tracking mechanism should be replaced .

No way . not for a plastic clip that cost all of 10pence.

We removed the push in clip. Cut off the piece tht pused through.

Drilled a small neat hole to receive a small a short self tapper screw.

Made sure the screw was short enough to avoid fouling the window

glass Binngo job done COST 20 pence

Somewhere on this forum somebody had a similar problem

Thats where I got my solution from

Both my windows have failed on me, but for one I manage to get a whole new mechanism off ebay for quite cheap. Only problem is the window is stuck up and I can't get the window down to loosen the clamps, any ideas?

hmmm, my passenger window doesn't work, only got the car at the weekend and apparently hasn't worked for a few weeks, but i know it's had that problem before as seen all the receipts for the car, not quite sure how they fixed it the 1st time, but I'll get my boyfriend to look into this repair kit to get it sorted :)

Window fell off

Post by skyline.99 »

Hi peeps! My left window actually fell off inside the door while down, and wouldnt go back up!! Really annoying when your out and about! Happened to me twice in one day. I took the door card off and the glass was sitting there, never smashed thank god!
I jammed a couple of tie straps in there to hold them as the plastic clips were broken on mine. Never had this prob sinse.

Hi guys. How difficult is it to access passenger window mech i.e. how long does it take to get door open and put it back together with the fix. Also is it quite tricky?

Thanks.

I am about to tackle the drivers door window. Should it turn out to be the motor does anyone know if the 3 door and 5 door motor assembly are the same? There is one at my local scrappies for a 3 98 MkIV door but I have a 5 door 97 1.4CL. Thanks David
