Gearbox fail 6N 085

Post by damunk99 »

Hello guys, I have a gearbox problem. Those little rollers in the bearing were thin like paper and just fall out lol
The gears look in fine condition but why would the middle row of gears wobble by hand?
There are three rows of a gears n middle ones got quite a big of play.

I think I know why there is play. Because the other half of the casing holds the gears in place.

Also did the bearing fail because I have overheated the gearbox which caused friction on the casing? I think so. Can someone confirm this.

That bearing looks mullered. Either its started to break down, or has been starved of oil and has overheated

The casing doesnt look too good either. Even with a new race installed, you might find there is play there now.

How can tell is casing is bad? Can't those bearing be replaced in the casing? (the red circle one)

Potentially. It depends how it’s been pressed into the case. You’d need to press it out and go get a replacement from a bearing specialist
