My polo from 99 has been using coolant continually for 2 years now, but recently it started leaving a pool of water (for it doesn't smell or look like coolant) on the driveway. I had to top the overflow up with a litre of water the other day but now it seems to be losing just a little coolant. What could this on-off leakage be due to ?

Could be a number of things. Split radiator, thermostat housing, leaking hose

Coolant is bright pink or bright green depending on what’s in your car so you should be able to trace where it’s coming from
