'97 VW Polo 6n * 1.4 8v * FSH * 72k

Post by DanDiesel »

The time has come for my other half to sell her 6n polo after 4 years of ownership.

Model: VW Polo
Engine size: 1.4 8v APQ engine code
Year: 1997 "R"
Colour: White (with black bits)
Mileage: c.72k (daily driver so rising)
Tax & MOT: Tax until Dec 2010, MOT until April 2011

Ok so some will recognise the car, some will not. She has owned it since June 2006 and it has been very reliable. It had the common dirty throttle body issue which we cleaned and it popped an HT lead on the way to VW Expo 2007 and these are the only engine problems we have experienced during the 4+ years.

As you can see, the mileage is pretty low for the age of car. I found a picture from E38 2007 and it was only on 65k so its only covered about 7k in the last 3 years!

It has a full service history too. The original service book got lost by the people who did the cars respray but we have a new book which has been stamped up for all the work we've had carried out. All previous paperwork for past services is present though aswell as old MOTs. It is about to have an oil and filter change and general check over. It has just had new front pads fitted. Cambelt has already been changed (with receipt to prove). V5 is present.

Mods:

Polished rocker cover
Chrome bonnet lifters

Interior:

Outside:
Full respray in VW alpine white

OE 16v polo bumpers (all grilles present)

Debadged and de-wipered rear
Badgeless Bonrath grille
Clear side repeaters
Clear front indicators
6n2 rear lights tinted black
Stubby aerial
Front aero wipers

Suspension:
FK Highsport coilovers

Wheels:
15" Lenso RS5 with polished lip and black centres
195/45/15 tyres with plenty of tread

Uprated Kenwood front components with crossovers
Pioneer 6x9s in stealth shelf
Magnat Phantom Monoblock amp
Kenwood 4/3/2 channel amp
12" subwoofer

Bad points:
One alloy has a slight curb mark on it
Adjusters on coilovers seem to be seized but ride is fine
There is some rust on the bottom of the drivers door
Also rust starting in both rear arches
Paintwork has few imperfections (slight orange peel in places, couple of bird s**t etchings)
Cracked paintwork on the front and rear bumpers and around mirror bases

Overall, this is a well looked after car which has not done a lot of mileage in the time we've had it. Yes, its not perfect and could do with a little TLC to bring it back up to a high standard, but its been a reliable car and will for a long while yet. Its in a lot better condition than many a polo of this year. It would be nice to see this go to an enthusiast.

Price:

£2000 o.n.o
