Re-program key-fob?

Post by R.I.T.B »

My batteries went dead in the remote so I'm using my spare, just changed over the batteries in the dead one but now it won't unlock/lock the car.

I've had this before and took it into the dealers, they done this thing where one key re-programs the other, does anyone know how to do it? from memory i think it was;

Working key turned to ignition on.
window down.
shut door, lock and hold they key for a few seconds(turning which way?)

any help please guys, saves me having to pay!

I would've thought if you went to the dealers and asked them nicely they'd do it for free!

As far as i can remember it goes a little like this :-

Place your first key into the ignition and turn to the second notch (do not start the car)
Now close the door and place your second key into the handle lock
Turn the key to the lock position and let it spring back to the central position.
Hold down the Lock button on your new remote, you may hear a bleep from the car
Now unlock the car using the key in the barrel and remove, then take your first key out of the ignition
Close the door

If not then it's a main dealer job. If you want to sync a new key to your immobiliser that's a main stealer job too

NOTE THIS ONLY WHAT I'VE READ CAUSE MY TRANSPONDER shafted SO BOUGHT A NEW KEY SO HOPE THIS WORKS

hoope this helps lee

no problem m8 hope it works please post and let us know

as i've bought a new key of ebay and just need the transponder to be retuned back into the central locking

hope it works rather than having to take it back to the local stealer

oh ps im sure its in your manual on how to retune the key to the central locking if the instructions i posted are a little off

Frankeygsxr1000's tip worked for me too. Thanks!
Worth pointing out the led wasn't working before I did it and I didn't get any beeping when I was holding the lock button down.
Cheers all.
