I got this car a few months back and have lots of plans for him.
i brought the car off my boyfriend who got him back in 2008. i helped put loads of money and time into the car. so when my boyfriend decided to sell him, and asked me if i was interested, i loved my SE, but I had put to much into the GTI to see it go just yet.

Plans-

• Replacing all the little bits that have wear and tear on them.
• stubby drivers mirror (my SE had one and i much prefer stubby)
• Koni Setup
• Respray Front Bumper
• Respray Rear Bumper
• Respray Petrol Cap Flap
• Respray Bonnet
• Upgraded All Bulbs
• Cruise Control
• Follow Me/Coming Home Lights
• Vanity Mirror Lights
• Back Seats Interior Light
• Nicer Handbook Cover
• Double Din Unit
• Boot Build
• New VW Car Mats
• more Fuel Efficient (Lamda, injectors, throttle body)
• Engine Bay Tidy Up (including rocker cover re-paint)
• Fabric Glovebox

I'd also like to have my boot handle smoothed out and use my badge as the handle (like on the newer VWs) and i'd like a push button open petrol cap flap.
and a sunroof (i miss the one in my se so mch) and would like masses of gadgets in the interior. but i doubt ill ever get round to doing any of those things. but hey! if i win the lottery i know what the money is going on ;)

Looks good! Do you have any performance figures after fitting the uprated parts and remap in the engine bay?

cheers Si_GTI - he rolling roaded at 139.6 bhp with 129ftlbs
which aint to bad (i think!?!) its an enjoyable ride :D

thank you emma - id love to do the boot and petrol cap flap mod. but like you said it will be tricky. i need to get my hands on a car with them both on as standard and see how VW have done it....tho im sure even then id just stand there scratching my head lol
i was talking to a chap with a mk4 golf who had a push button open petrol cap flap. and he hated it. but my old perodua had one and i loved it for some reason deffinatly something i want from my polo.

Does anyone know how thick the headlining is? :S
could i cut two little squares into it? i want to steal the little vanity lights out of the new mk8 polo but fear completely ballsing up my headlining. im really not the darring type when it comes to personally cutting bits up on my cars
Image
im also gonna steal the rear head rests from the new polo to (i know loads of other cars have em. but i want it from the polo non the less cose im wierd like that ;) )

they are 15x7
and need spacers!

the springs are from Venom. and the ride is ok. in all honesty he does bounce around a lot. but i really dont mind it.
i will deff eventually do it properly as Jack originally only did it as a temp thing. but until i really need to, ill leave it on the springs.
like i said i really dont mind, the one and only person who ever moaned about it is a mate of Jacks who tried to make me promise to get coilovers when i brought the car as he hates the bounce lol

cheers Godderz.

i really cant wait to get the repsray done. so so many stone chips

just putting him through the MOT atm
went in yesterday. so looks like another night without him

CV Boot needs doing.
Rear Left tyre had a massive screw in it (which was all ground down so heaven knows how long its been there  )
and he some how needs to get it thru with the de-cat
i have a spare in my cellar so im jst waiting for the call where i have to rush the cat in

the guy whos doing it is a family friend of Jacks. so he does things for me on the side. takes longer. but means i dont get charged as much.

but im still dreadin the price. dreading it so bad.
at times i wished i was in Australia where they dont have MOTs

Yeah but you get spiders the size of your face. Went there a couple years ago, spend a couple nights in the sticks, didn't sleep at all was constantly on guard against them.

haha very true. i remember always checking my shoes as a kid when i was there.
i went under my sisters house to get the dogs tennis ball out (the house was on stilts) and the cobwebs were immence. really thick. argh i hate them

Image

18.09.2010 - Changed the Brake Pads and Disks
on all 4 wheels. the rears didnt really need it but thought I might as well anyway.

Image
I had to buy a blow torch asone of the screws had seized up
on the back of the calliper meaning we couldnt get the disk off,

Image
phone a friend to come speed things up,
and had to buy a rewind tool for the rears

Image
it may look like i just stood around, made tea, and took photos...but...
well....that exaclt what I did. but i wasnt really needed.
they all knew what they were doing so i just tidied up after

MOT

Just had a phone call to say my cars failed on the Headlights.

the adjusters in the lights broke way back well over a year ago. and something to do with the brakets apparently. i really cant remember all that well
Jack ended up using super glue and duck tape to fix them. which it sailed thru the last MOT with.
Id noticed the other day that my lights didnt seem as bright as they used to. and knew they must have slipped down.

from VW the lights new are £200 each. which is money i dont have.
and ill get about 15% off each. but still :'(

Ill keep looking into.
and hopefully get my car home soon

Oh what a bugger. Really gutted for you lass :(

It's horrible when things go wrong. Can Jack not DIY fix them to get it through the MOT then you can look into getting new adjuster later on?

Gutted :( the only good thing really though is its only the headlights so nothing major.

I dont think you will have to buy a brand new light unit, I think you can buy some of the parts individually.
Look into first before splashing out £200 notes

I will try and dig out a pic of the light unit with the individual part numbers for you
