Got the indicator sorted, Had the stalk replaced At VW, was well worth the £130 it cost, however it doesn't 'click off' automatically when finishing a corner sometimes, so will be going back to VW shortly, so not 100% successfull  . I tried drowning it out with music, but i'm pretty much bored of all my current music, will be on a downloading mission this weekend.

Manifold

Post by funlovincriminal »

I'm currently looking at getting a manifold sorted - Theres a couple of people on here who've done it & I like the idea.

Ever since I've got custom exhaust & K&N panel filter the car breathes so much better, runs better & quicker, so i'm tempted to go the whole hog, Manifold, De-cat & k&N typhoon for ultimate gains. I think it all can be done for way less than a grand so what the hell

I've always been put off increasing power in the polo, but now my mate can rebuild gti gearboxes it means if the inevitable happens, it can be sorted in a couple of days inexpensively!

I thought i had my polo exactly how I wanted it, but it continues

I know Ben had a raceland manifold for sale a while back - i take it you got it sold Ben?

shame it doesnt click off automatically but as said send it back to VW to get them to pull their finger out ;)

yeh bens sold his manifold to Endi :(

he's sent me a link for the same raceland manifold tho so would be worth asking him to send it to you too and he'll tell you all the prep work that needs to be done

K&N Typhoon all the way ;) I love the sound of mine, altough it makes me put my foot down all the tim :p tunnels and carparks are awesome!

Yeah I sold mine to Matt last year

You can buy them new from here though http://www.edgeperformance.co.uk/view.asp?ID=2303

As far as the prep work goes the two items I have labelled in the picture are not necessary for the GTI so have to be removed, they are only used for the 1.4 16V Polo's so need to be removed. The holes where it bolts to the block also have to be re-bored by a couple of mm because they are slightly too small.

The Manifold doesn’t come with a gasket either so you will need to buy one of them from Volkswagen or GFS, TPS etc, the original GTI gasket fits fine.

Here's what mine looked like after it was fully prepared....and later sold lol :)

The Stainless small pipe you can see in the pics comes with the manifold and it needs to be welded to the CAT.
Either that or you will need a custom de-cat pipe made like Craig did with his, probably the best option but obviously causes issues for MOT's

Hope this helps mate

Thanks for this Ben just read it in polo dans thread too, looks like there's a few of us looking at this mod. I'm gonna go see my custom exhaust specialist see if I can get an idea on cost for prep work and installation. And also look at getting de-cat pipe made up at same time.

Lovin the car at the min, enjoying driving it, even being des and driving my mates to the pub, its not like me!

Check the wiring to the lambda

If thats intact, it'll be a new one. Friends had the same issues.

Thanks for the reply Alex,

I will look at wiring, I hit a speed bump badly the night before the engine light came on, so it may just be the wiring popped out or something. It's in the garage tomorrow morning anyway for gearbox oil change & tracking/ Balancing, so I will get a replacement fitted tomorrow if needed.

Will update tomorrow when fixed fingers crossed :)
