Battery drain test

Post by dantheram »

What's the normal drain on the battery when everything is off - I got 0.03a to 0.04a, is this normal - not an indication of a parasitic drain?

Just fyi, typical drain key off (and the vehicle must sit for 30-45 minutes to ensure all modules go to sleep as well! ) is to be under 0.05 amps, or 50 milliamps

Thanks Alex,

Pretty safe to assume i'll be under 0.05a after leaving it for 45 mins then. Surely it can only go down from the 0.04a I recorded without waiting?

Yeah I would imagine so. There'll always be some current at rest due to the alarm, ECU, radio etc
