Wouldnt imagine you'd change the cat given the cost and the lack of need to do so.

A genuine vw economy exhaust (non economy ones are no longer available) can be got for under £80 which is as good as original (even made in portugal!)

They do a fitting kit to go with it which includes the sleeves hangers and other bits needed

I can get the part numbers if you like

JZW253609AF rear silencer - its designated for the diesel models, but the diameter is the same (its just a two pipe outlet instead)
JZW253209AA front silencer - GTI/diesel models

JZW298141H - fitting kit rear (new sleeves etc) - worth getting
JZW298141AP - fitting kit front (new sleeves etc) - worth getting

Youll want to get it from TPS though to get the better pricing so make sure you go down that route if you choose to get it.

Cheers Alex,

my local TPS have suddenly become militant about selling to the public - they only sell to garages so i have to use VW themselves :x

last time i just randomly said a garage name i had heard of and the bloke just gave me the part - obviously they had an account, had to insist on paying cash to avert a bad situation!

Lincoln TPS are happy to sell to the public. Let me know either way Dan. The logistics are harder for me ATM, I'm working out in Saudi!

Had a nightmare with getting these parts -

Derby TPS are clueless, told me to ring VW Heritage as the rear silencer is no longer made :D

Luckily Notts helped me out and ordered the parts, £88 for everything.

Stan, thanks for the offer of the second hand system, wouldn't have been able to get over to Lincs this time tho
