I've seen some people do this before which looks much nicer and like it always should have been, especially with the red stitching on the steering wheel, gear-shift surround and seats, but I can't seem to find the threads. Was it the one from the 6R GTI? Also I remember it wasn't a straight fit and needed some little modifciation-does anyone know what was needed to be done?

It's a 9N3 GTI and the button has to be swapped over

Ah! It seems pretty much impossible to get then. I remember when I looked before i missed out on a seller on ebay that sold some. Even the 6R handbrake handle has been dropped already from the main dealers, although you can buy copies on ebay of that one

You can get the proper black with red stitching one from vW heritage as a VW classic part for about £30. I'll get the part number for you

Thank you! it's strange, but when I search by the part number in Classic parts it comes up as for Polo '94-99 and '99-01, but does say GTI and swartz/rot (black-red)

It looks the part too. I ordered one for a mate a few months ago

Have you ordered anything from Classic parts in Germany before? I did a few months back, but their postage cost estimate has gone weird now! First it wanted 112 Euros for items costing 150 Euros, then the next time it said about 40 Euros, now it's back up to 112 Euros which is a joke! I've shipped a whole interior over on a pallet from Germany before which is far bigger and far heavier for the same price as what they want to sent a few light pieces!

I order it via VW heritage. That way the postage is actually realistic and the price is the same

Thats what I did in the end as not paying 112Euros postage and had sent therm a message about it, but had not received a reply

I just received it, but it looks like it's the normal 6N2 GTI one. I've just noticed that this one and the link you sent was for part number 6X0-711-461/1/KTA whereas the one you mentioned was 6X0-711-561/A/KTA. When I search for the one with '561' in it on Heritage, VW Classic or Google, it comes up with nothing.

Did it have red stitching? It shouldve
