I did notice the other day that one of the 3 bolts on the ball joint is sitting up against the hub, I'd have to double check but I think it is doing that on both sides, I guess I'll swap them and see if it fits better

Ah, I remember it well.

Left and right are reversed on the GTi

I suspect you have two lefts or two rights, have a read of my journey on this thread, includes ECP part numbers

Hi mate thanks for the link, this is kinda confusing, I guess I'll try swapping them and see what happens? If I went to euros or somewhere like that....will they have the right part numbers?

Just been on the euros website and they have left and right for my car which look handed in the pics, are these the right ones?

Part numbers are in the other thread, I suggest you call ECP and try those as I know they are correct.

Or just try changing to the quality supplier, might bring up the same part number

Ok mate, I don't really ever use euro car parts to be honest, I always go to cat automotive so I could try asking them and if not I'll have to try one of the more vw specialists......why does this have to be so awkward?!?!? Haha

Hello again, I really appreciate everyone's help by the way, so today I swapped the ball joints over and they now look like they are sitting properly, the hub is now touching the nuts and is more central how it should be but I still can't figure out why my driver wheel is sticking out about 10mm more than the drivers side....

Passenger side

I did roll the arches slightly, years ago but I don't think that is the problem, it's very weird, the problem could also be that the drivers wheel is right and the passenger side is sitting in......who knows......baffled.
